Anyone think the Bees are buzzing this summer?

    This current spell of fine weather seems to have given the garden bee population a boost. With the flowers blooming more fully then in the last couple of years the garden is at times litterly buzzing esp around the honeysuckle bushes.

    herself has a couple of ceanothus trees in her garden, which are in flower at the moment - and there were at least a dozen bees on each tree on saturday evening.

    not so many honey bees.......but plenty of hover flies and the like

    Bumble Bees in particular are about in much greater numbers than previous years. I thought they may ahve been in trouble after the very severe Winter gone by, but far from it. Isn't Nature wonderful at coping with everything Nature can throw at it?

    It may seem logical that hard winter may have been bad, but most species here are resident in some part of northern continental Europe where Winters are a lot colder than what we've just had
