Hey there, just back 4rm a weekend in London, went to Bon Jovi in the O2!! Gr8 arena, loads of bars, food places etc, had a gr8 time b4 even going into the concert, boat to the arena and back!
All excited to see Bon Jovi but when we went to go into the concert and our bags were checked I was told my camera lens was too big (18mm-55mm standard for SLR's) I was told cameras of over 35mm lens cant be permitted! Now I trawled the T&C's on the ticket and there is no mention of this!
I was escorted to a "holding area" which consisted of a guy with a table and a locker behind him who gave me a ticket (a raffle ticket) to put my name and number on and then put my camera into a drawer full of others. I was v lucky to have brought my case to protect it!!
I have to say it put a bit of a dampner on the occasion as I was v worried about the camera for the whole concert (cost a fortune)!
I got it back no problem after thankfully jst wondering does this happen at all concerts as I was totally oblivious........

the text speak hurts my eyes!

Its a standard practice at events that professional cameras are not allowed. At least they provided somewhere to store as opposed to just not letting you in.

    hey - as novarock said,

anything with a removable lens and SLRs in general are classed as professional cameras and are pretty much prohibited everywhere, maybe you've brought it to other gigs - but I would never bring a piece of kit like that to a gig.........you were lucky they had provided somewhere to at least store it as it would have been within their rights to just refuse entry with the camera/s.

personally I bring a small cheap 10mp camera to gigs and if I go to a festival I bring a cheap bridge camera, both do the job, but I wouldn't expect to get into a gig with anything better unless I had a press pass :-)
