Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fairly new to cycling for fun and not to sure on the maintainance side of things. My bikes only 2 months old and the gears have started slipping and making noise when im cycling without touching the shifters. Any advice on how to sort it be welcome.

The cables on a new bike will always stretch, it could be a very simple job to tighten back up the tension on these cables, but did you buy the bike from a Local Bike store.
If so they usually offer a free service after 30 days or so for most new bikes sold and it would be worth bringing it back to them to let them check everything if you have this option!

neris, I had this exact problem with a new bike but couldn't be bothered bringing it back. As Robbie says above, the cable has probably stretched like mine did.

Lift the back wheel and spin it while shifting the gears to the highest gear and note the alignment of the gear cog with the chain. They should be perfectly aligned. It won't be, so tighten it until it is. then lower the gears one at a time and make sure it's alligned all the way to the bottom. took me 5 minutes to watch someone do this for me :D

The last item on this link will show you how to tighten the tension of the rear mech it could be as simple as that to fix, but getting a service isnt a bad option!
