    Seems not according to this:

The main contractor has been appointed for the works involved in the construction of 93 no. Housing units at 5A, 5B and Shangan Gardens, Shangan Avenue, Dublin, Co. Dublin.

The project has three parts: Shangan 5A, 36 housing units, roads and infrastructure: Shangan 5B, 57 housing units roads and infrastructure; and Shangan Gardens, services, utilities and landscaping upgrade of public areas in an existing housing estate of 80 units. Access and services to Shangan gardens must be maintained throughout the contract and the contractor will participate in regular resident liasion meetings.

Main construction work is expected to commence on site on 28th June, 2010 and the contract period is estimated at 33 months. The cost of the scheme is in the region of €20 million

Surely they could just go to NAMA and buy some?????????

First i dont think nama has at this point taken over much property in dublin, most of the nama property in dublin would be apartments which may not be big enough for familys on the housing list. i d,ont think theres many ghost estates in dublin with large amount of empty houses .Say you are on the fingal housing list , they can only give you a home in the fingal area.IF theres a hundred empty houses in ashbourne ,thats of no use to you , unless you are on the meath county council housing list.
Will nama transfer units to the local councils , who,s knows ?They might
sell them to people on the low income , social housing list,ie people earning under 30k approx.
most of those units would be designed for familys or older people, pensioners on the dublin city council list.
