Bill just said that Graeme Souness is finished with RTE tonight for the rest of the World Cup? Could the tensions between himself and Dunphy have anything to do with this?

I'm dissappointed, I was enjoying their hatred for each other.

Not a hope, ive got the feeling Dunphy and Souness get on really well. If they hated each other they would of avoided confronting each other on TV. I think Souness must of just signed up for the group stages

The comparison between the English channels and RTE after the games England have had is hilarious, ITV & BBC always try to make somebody a scape goat while not even analysing how they played. I havent watched a single minute of this World Cup on RTE.

The HD has me hooked to be honest.

Should have switched over for the RTE panel.

ITV and BBC have actually had a good mix of analysts though:

Vieria, Davids, Desailly, Keegan, Southgate, Shearer, Redknapp (Harry not young Richard), Seedorf, Klinsmann, Dixon, Hodgson thats all I can remember!

Sure at the start Bill questioned (jokingly) that Giles and Dunphy weren't the only people that wanted england to lose and Souness nodded along, even though it was a joke. He is a scotsman after all, not an englishman.

To be fair Kilbane is a decent enough pundit. Smiles the whole time which is nice to see, an RTE pundit that enjoys their work.

Think it's more a case of getting the better pundits in for the group stages where there may be matches people wont want to watch, but might just for the punditry, and then let them go as most people will watch the knockout stages regardless.

Either BBC/ITV or another network like ESPN have them for the knockouts. It's happened before where Souness has left RTE and appeared on Sky.

Souness has gone on holiday as well. Souness appears on Sky for the Champions League games. You'll see him in September.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Denis Irwin. He's a good pundit.

He's going to do World Cup for Sky even though Sky don't show any World Cup matches.
He doesn't get on with Dunphy
He's going to do World Cup with ESPN

Talk about conspiracy theories. It was stated quite clearly on the day that Hamman was going back for pre-season with MK Dons and no explanation was given for Souness as none is required.

In fairness none of those explanations are too unreasonable.

Hamann left because he has pre-season training starting with the MK Dons, nothing to do with money.

Shame because I really liked Souness and thought Didi Hamann was a great pundit, and then he left last week.

I doubt Souness left because of money, he's stated before that he loves/prefers doing punditry on RTE because there's no trying to keep teams sweet or tip-toeing around certain issues like they do on the English stations, and he can more or less speak his mind and be completely honest about his views.
