Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For about a month now the following has been happening.

    1) When i start firefox/IE it takes nearly 45 seconds to 1 min for it to pop up on the screen
    2) When it does start and i go to a normal page (boards.ie/facebook/sky sports etc.) it takes about 30 seconds for any page to load !!

I've 15MB boardband and i've tested it and it is working at full power.

    What I've tried so far

    1) Upgrade to latest Firefox ( i dont use IE that much so i left it)
    2) Downloaded spybot search and destory and ran it and removed all items found
    3) Ran a scan dick clean up
    4) Ran a defrag
    5) Cleared caches
    6) Cleared temp files
    7) Removed all toolbars that i didnt need.

Nothing of this has worked and it's a wreck the head..

Does anyone have any ideas ?

I'm running WinXP SP3 with 3 gig RAM. dual core 2gig

Are you running AVG by any chance? If yes, disable the link scanner (Search Shield/Active Surf Shield), restart browser, and see if page loading speed is back to normal.

    Sounds like a network issue.
Are you on a wireless or wired connection?
How many people are sharing this connection?
If its wireless, how strong is the signal?

Have you tried 'repairing' the network connection?

It is wireless. No one sharing it.
    signal is 5 full bars

One think i noticed just now is the "Link" light on the modem is flashing..

Have not tried to repair the network. Might try it.

From what you've said it sounds like the network isn't the problem. Make sure you're not connecting through a proxy or have too many add-ons installed (both will slow down your browser). Aside from that, too many thing running behind the scenes perhaps?

Run 'msconfig' and click the startup tab. Usually there's ten times the amount of programs running than should be. Uncheck anything that you don't need/want to run on startup.

This'll make your computer faster in general, including your browser (you'll need to restart to make the changes final), just be careful not to uncheck anything important to your computer.
