I'm interested too, my little guy has just finished 6th class and has a lot of books which are still in very good condition.

I'd be more than happy to give them to charity, has anyone ever dropped them off at a Vincent de Paul shop? Would they take such things?

Alternatively, if anyone has a little person entering sixth class next year, I would be happy to pass them on.

http://www.schooldays.ie/articles/second-hand-school-books to sell (i suppose thats more appropriate for diddledum, actually i thought lucan had a second hand school book shop, abtrees or something? you could hand in the books for a discount on next years)

Honestly don't know about charities, google it sure?

If you want to donate them why not just hand them into your schools.

I would say only thing they do with them is recycle them or sell them as second hand.I dont believe they would send on School books to a poorer country. You could always ask your local priest.:)

Hi I don't know of any charities taking books, however The school supply centre in rathfarnham shopping have a box located outside the shop where you can leave any unwanted books. I am not sure whether they give them to charity or recycle them?. I hope this helps you.

Some of the charity places specifically say no school books. Once books are out of date (and this happens way too quickly) they are no use to anyone. We had boxes of books from my husband's teaching career and they went to the recycling centre.
