Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does that not look very similar to an RX8?

A little maybe - only curvier and with 2 less doors. The rear is not too bad either...

p.s. We all know the best of the 4 pots (back then) was the 2.0 pinto, and that was best in an RS2000 Escort :D

I'm going to have to disagree there - The best were the crossflows, reving to 9K breathing through twin 45's..... ;)

The Pinto was only useful as a boat anchor.

    ..... Running away very fast.........

well possibly the 3.0 essex sounds nicer but the 2.8 cologne has the edge on power...I have both in my Cortinas and love them both..the Essex is quite and refined , the cologne screams....cant beat a V6! (mind you I just bought my umpteenth 1600E, back to where I started 12 years ago.

    Right lads heres my question:

Do you think its possible for me to own a capri as my daily driver?

I can't afford to own a second car so it would have to be fairly reliable & fuel economy that wouldn't be lower than 33/34mpg.
I would be able to carry out some basic repairs but nothing too complicated.

theres avery good 1600 laser for sale at the moment in Tipperary....see for sale section at www.everyfordireland.com (dont dismiss it cos its a 1600, they are nice to drive and economical and a LOT cheaper than a V6.

    Ford Consul Capri

The Consul Capri is no relation to the later Capris. They were slow and heavy and even in GT form the biggest engine was a 3 bearing 1500cc. Many surviving today will have been modified..they just cry out for a V6 or V8 dont they! They(and the companion CLASSIC saloon) didn't sell well and were replaced in quick order by the light and powerful(comparitively) and immensely sucessful Cortina, again biggest engine 1500 but a whole new ball game.

Yep. Plenty of room for a V6 in the Cortina engine bay.

I saw a Cosworth worked 2.9V6 in a Cortina in a mag a few years ago.

But sure loads of cars that hit the roads around the same time were what i'd consider a lovely looking thing. The Jag E-type, the volvo 1800 (the saint's car) & the original ford mustang.

There were a few run out specials with extra kit - Injection Specials, Brooklands, 280 etc. The 280 had an lsd, recaro seats, and 15" wheels.
