Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Let's go Japan! Hope the Danes don't bore us to death. In all likelihood Tulio will score a cracker of an own-goal in the dying minutes....

I'm finding this very tough to call.
Japan ahead on GD so that might come into play.

Would prefer Japan, I think, as having two teams from Asia in the knockouts would be interesting.

Danes bore us to death ??

Did you even watch the Cameroon game - was one of the most exciting games iv seen in this World Cup, two teams really going for it . Bored i certainly was not.

Granted they werent the best against Holland but i wouldnt have classed them as boring tbh, unlike the Swiss/Italians & possibly even England.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,179 ✭✭✭RichTea

I hope Denmark go through. They play nicer stuff than Samurai Blue, who really are not very good at all going forward.

1-0 Denmark. We could be waiting a while for a goal in this one.

Denmark's defence was all over the place against Cameroon, and they're without Kjaer for this. Japan will get chances, it's up to them to put them away.

If anything Holland have been the boremeisters in this group. Is this a straight-up winner-takes-all tie and what happens in the event of a draw (Japan through I think?).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Japan go through if draw. Whoever wins this match has a good chance of reaching the quarters.

    C'mon Japan! (sweepstake reasons)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Honda really drove that one at goal, it's safe to say he's motoring now, Japan really are in the driving seat to qualify from this group.

Decent shot but Sorenson looked leaden footed.

Two free kicks were scored previous to today but I'm not sure if they were deliberate - one was certainly a cross that snook in.

South Korea scored a free-kick against Nigeria the other night. It seems the Asians have the hang of the Jabulani!

Not sure, was it Algeria who conceded one in their first game?

    No they didnt.

I remember Lineker saying it was amazing that there was none after about 20 games.

Could be just the 3 then in 43 games.

Jabulani my arse thats a very low return.

EDIT: Definitely only 3 free-kicks in the tournament - Lineker just confirmed.
