Found a very low hr. used Valtra I'm going to look at. Do these tractors have any bad weak points? This one has a 3 speed PS trans. that sounds like it works like the Landini Land Power I looked at. Dealer says Valtra is built so well and lasts forever. They are not very common over here so I have no idea or if he is just feeding me a sales pitch!

    thanks

Only problem over here when they came out first (15yrs ago) was backend tightening up and stopping on the road in hot weather. I think it was cold climate oil put in the tractors in Finland, oil was too light. Anybody I know with a valtra is happy. Engines are bombproof anyway, MF have been using them.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Good tractor, as previous op said the oil should be changed in the backend before you take ownership (if) they are bombproof, gear handle tops are a little flimsy, but other than that they are a great powerful machine, a good way of knowing what they are like is the fact that the resale values of Valtra in the uk is very good ;)

only from what ive heeard from another owners experience is they are very bouncy on the road bonnet is very big for forward visabilityand the clutch is awkwad for baling and that youd have plenty of muscles in your left leg after a few dozen acres ;)

They both use a wet clutch and shuttle shift trans so it would be fine I think. http://www.konedata.net/Traktorit/ValmetHitech8050.htm

Anyone have any experience with Valtra Valmets? Looking at 6400 or 6600. What are they like for loader work? will be used for cutting silage, spreading muck and shifting bales in the winter.

we bought a 130 last year it has clocked nearly 500 hours in last 3 weeks, my 2 sons are mowing in front of a fusion (4 drivers were manning the mower, tedder and baler nearly around the clock) also helped out one of the self propelled outfits

a few valmets in this area ( don't ask me about model nos) but some with up to to 20 k hours with no major issues

Cousin has a Valtra A95. ts a 05 and has only 1200 hours on it and it already has 2 clutches replaced under warranty. Its a nice tractor. Steady enough on the road, even with the loader on it. It does have a few faults that you would want to check against any other Valtra that you would be buying.

It has a dry clutch which is not suitable for loader work. Only buy one with an oil clutch and the shuttle on the A95 is awkward too - it would be better with the small hand lever under the steering wheel. Also, the dry clutch is heavy and a few hours working it will give you leg cramp. Only good thing about them is that clutch replacement is an easy job - so the mechanic says.

It has a very small cab - you'll bump elbows a lot.

It has a small fuel tank. Holds less than 10 gallons. If you're going doing a full day's work with it, you'll need to fill it a number of times depending on how heavy of work you're doing with it.

Other than that its an ok tractor. However I bought a New Holland last year and would much prefer to spend a day working in it than the Valtra.

i was looking at the mf version new a few years ago which is the same tractor and was told to steer clear of them. they are a very basic stockmans tractor so i think it would be better to spend a bit more for a more updated tractor if you have enough work for it.

Sorry to bump an old thread..

But we're going to look at an 02 6400. 3K hours, seems spotless. Is there anything I should look out for? Any particular weaknesses?

the last of the 6400 were brilliant tractors, originally sold as 95 hp but were later sold as 105. fierce gutsy tractors to pull. clutch can be a bit heavy for long day on loader work but not bad. great lift on them also, will handle 4 furrow rev plough no prob. good hydraulics too. clutch packs on the delta ps can go from around 7 k hours costs around 2k to do.had one here and loved it ,replaced it with a 6550 which is nicer tractor to drive but not the same guts as the 6400
