Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chipping BMW

I have a 320d (hence the imaginative username) E90 BMW which currently is at 163BHP. I understand that this can be chipped up to ~203BHP

Has anyone had this done, is it recommended, and who would be best at it?

    Cheers,

    :D

Do a google search and check out Bmw owner forums. I'd go for a remap over one of those so called 'chips' that connect to the diagnostic port.
Ive done two range rovers with BMW engines before. one with a black box (chip) and one remaped. The latter seemed to have a better response/feeling. That was 5 years ago so I assume there are better services now. It cost me around euro 400 for the remap.

dont "chip" your car, dont fall for the ebay resistor scam as its cheap and will damage your engine, end of!

in my opinion, you have two options :

    Martin in www.autoremap.ie
    Joe in www.chippedire.com

they will safely remap your car to within BMW limits etc etc
my E90 achieved 190bhp after a remap but with 272 foot pounds of torque, and thats where you feel it! my car had 121k on it so maybe a few more horses can be got out of them with a fresher engine, although mine was very well maintained.

the UK mappers seem to get close to 200bhp but a realistic figure would be 190-200 approx.
