Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    right...realistic please.

if there was one player that you could choose your team to realistically get in, on their World Cup form so far, who would you like your club to get in?

Liverpool: besides actually keeping hold of Jovanovic and his pre-contract agreement, i'd live with us making a bid for Salcido, Mexico's left back. i don't think it would break the bank; not that we have much in it.

he'd solve a problem area, giving Insua a break out of first-team duty every week, and give us more of a threat out wide.

    who'd you go for?

p.s. i realise this might be quite similar in a lot of ways to other threads, but i'm bored :D

Liverpool: Mesut Ozil please!!!! or Keisuke Honda

I think Salcido is a poor defending. I'd love to see Kolarov signing for Liverpool. Would probably be too expensive. Hamsik would another fantastic addition if we had a spare £15 million lying around.

    Gourcuff to Lyon.

Realistically, Joe Cole on a free.

I'd like us to get maybe Ozil though, he looks like a decent threat. After that, can't say I've been massively impressed beyond what I already thought of someone.

Well Blackburn don't have much money but I do like Jong Tae-Se and he is a Rovers fan by all accounts. He hasn't had much chance to show what he can do but the few times he has gotten any space he has looked very dangerous.

His goals record for his club and country are both very decent. He was on trial at Rovers back in February so he might be coming anyways but I do like him.

This. Or maybe Wesley Sjneider, not gonna happen though.

And I'd defo take Pique back. Again, unlikely

    Vittek, the Slovakian striker.

Chelsea - Bastian Schweinsteiger, would be a fantastic signing and release Essien from the DM role

Tottenham Yoann Gourcuff I reckon a move away from France could do wonders for him and he'd work great as a withdrawn striker or as part of a 5 man midfield.
    OR
Salcido from Mexico lookks great so far

Anyone want a fresh faced 26 year old dutch international striker?

    He scored today...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,524 ✭✭✭joe123

Well according to the latest reports Rikard has been approached by Liverpool to be the next boss. So Huntelar might not be that far fetched!

Jovanovic on a free (if he still agrees to join).

I'd be happy if Spurs made a big money bid for Aguero, probably not the most realistic though..

I've been really impressed with Michael Bradley from the US. From a defensive point of view, no centre halves have really stood out. Godin and Fucile have been good for Uruguay.

    Arsenal:

Khedira would be my main target. Seeing how well he links up with Ozil makes me think he'd be good to have alongside Cesc and Song in the 3 man midfield. A very dynamic midfielder, which is exactly what's needed to play along side Cesc.

I'd like one of the CBs too. Thinking Kjaer, because of his long range of passing would give us a direct option we lack. But he's a wee bit too like Verm to form an effective parnership methinks.

Neuer - since Butt was always going to be a temporary 'good enough' solution when young Rensing turned out to be overhyped and crap. Afraid Schalke will fight tooth & nails to keep him or demand crazy money.

Marseille - Gary Medel or Vittek maybe. There haven't been too many star performers and precious few who would fancy the French league.

I also would love to sign Fabio Coentra, even though there are players in other positions we need more.

I'd love Man Utd to sign Ozil. Looks pure class and one of the only real playmakers around. Plus what a shot for the goal the other night.

Failing that, or in addition, I've been hugely impressed with Diego Perez from Uruguay. All action defensive midfielder who is not afraid to put his foot in and has loads of energy. Also he can play a nice cross field pass and he can get forward to support the attack and make something happpen. Only downside is he is 30 but that should mean we could get him cheap. He plays for Monaco at the moment.

Chelsea: Alexis Sanchez of Chile looked fairly promising last night against Spain. Wouldn't mind his as an addition to the squad.

    Realistically - Vittek or Coentrao
