It seems that anyone under the age of 30, driving a tuned up car with a big exhaust, is now a member of a gang of arsonists. Does this now mean that anything and everything is now going to be blamed on these poor defenseless nomadic creatures?:(

    ‘Boy racers’ blamed for blazes

Elderly woman evacuated as fire threatens family home

    by Owen O’Shea

Gardai in Listowel are investigating what is believed to be a series of connected forestry fires in the Rathea area of north Kerry, which locals claim are being started deliberately by “boy racers” involved in an increasing level of anti-social behaviour.

Five units of the fire brigade attended a major blaze at Rathea, near the Six Crosses, on Monday, in which the flames threatened to engulf a house which was occupied at the time.
An elderly woman had to be evacuated from her home by the emergency services and was treated for smoke inhalation.
Units from Tralee, Listowel and Castleisland required a water tank and spent several hours trying to bring the blaze under control.
The latest fires are being linked by locals to “boy racers”, who they say are behind a significant level of anti-social behaviour in the area. The local Community Alert Group has expressed fears that this week’s fire is the latest in a series of deliberately set fires.

    Boy Racer = Arsonist
    Kerry's Eye = Tabloid Trash

now don't get me wrong I'm no fan of cars driving fast with loud exhausts but seriously: what a piece of sensationalist trash... Shouldn't journalists have some sort of responsibility to report facts not innuendos???

They don't call it a rag for nothing! They really must have been stuck for something to put crap like that on the front page, and I think the attitude of older people towards young drivers is very ageist and unfair, maybe you would prefer if they were spending there money on drink and drugs instead of there cars!

they had no leads for the crime so they are blaming 'no good punk kids'.

Isn't it the priority of local law-enforcement to rid the streets of folks in tuned up cars?

There is an element that wakes people up when they thrash around built-up areas in the middle of the night, but most people don't do that. As usual though, most people can't see a distinction between the two groups, and tar them all with same brush.

As for arson, they should be looking for someone with mental health issues and a box of matches.

Another quaility piece of journalism by the Kerry's Eye, has to be said though they really know their target market inside out.
