Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Battle for the top of the Group commences.

If Portugal loose and the Ivory Coast beats North Korea by 6 goals, Portugal could go out.

Either way we will see what this Portugal team is made of.

    Predictions for the match.

Dunga said he will be going all out for the win so i expect Brasil to deliver

I reckon Portugal will go at them and Brazil to rip them apart on the counter.

    3-1 Brazil.

Is Ronaldo really that big a deal for Portugal. Everywhere I look the same message is being displayed........ If Ronaldo doesn't play, Portugal are boned!!

Do ye think he is really that important to the Portugal team !!

Yes. They just don't have anyone else close to his quality. With him in the team they have the constant threat of him creating a goal out of absolutely nothing. Plus, the benefit of most teams double marking him, leaving another player free a lot of the time.

    What position will ronaldo play?

His goal against North Korea was his first for Portugal in nearly two years.

Dunga has never gone all out for the win though...

    Dull scoreless draw.

I'd dearly love to see both Portugal and Ivory Coast sent packing but in the absence of the eventuality I suppose the best I can hope for is both of them losing badly today.

Throwing all 11 players forward is not the same as going all out for the win. You can go all out for a win by clever counter-attacking and not conceding stupid goals.

    Jesus I hope not!!!

It depends how you look at it, in my opinion he goes all out to win every match with his own style of tactics, i think when you are manager of Brasil you go out to win every match such is the quality of the players Brasil have

  • Registered Users Posts: 986 ✭✭✭DJCR

    Brasil missing Kaka!!! Ohhh.

Gilberto in the Midfield - defensive as expected!

Not at all ... but both teams have a bit of flair at least .... this should lead to openings.

A draw will do both teams but with Dunga appearing to be going all out by his words rather than his team selection one can imagine a fairly boring match that is being played by both teams looking for a draw.

Portugal are very vulnerable in the right full-back position. Queiroz tried Paolo Ferreira there initially and wasn't happy with him, and then he went with Miguel and again it didn't quite work. Now it looks like Ricardo Costa is going to be tried who was a surprise inclusion in the squad to begin with.

I would fear for Portugal with Bastos likely to roam forward down that flank.

Ronaldo is vital for Portugal even if he plays poorly because when he plays he is double and trebled marked, creating an awful lot of space for the other.

I just can't stand him... an Imbecile!

Dani Alves fancies himself a bit too much at times - he is always trying fancy tricks when there is no need. Just needs to keep it simple for the same effect.

Fabio Coentra looks like a great player

Imbecile? (sorry, really shouldn't annoy me so much but I just had to correct it)

Ivory Coast 1-0 up in the other game

    Yaya Toure

Wtf is the ref playing at? Stops the game to book Fabiano after only 15 mins for a soft tackle, then brings the ball over to the original spot for a hop ball?

There is gonna be a red card in this game.

Jasus if they keep that up things will get very interesting indeed. And Korea may be advised not to return home. :pac:

You have to feel for North Korea, after their great performance against Brazil they seem to have fallen apart. They are quite unfortunate in the group they were in.

Edit- Good call from the referee

Another booking for Brazil - Juan, Duda booked for running 40 yards to suggest that Juan be sent off

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭James Forde

possibly a red, well done ref for booking player suggesting a red

  • Registered Users Posts: 986 ✭✭✭DJCR

Brazil less than impressive so far. Missing Kaka.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

That was a blatant red card.

DPR Korea need to up their game, it's almost all Ivory Coast at the moment. They're like a different team from the side that played Brazil.
