I agree, fantastic save - Portugal seem content to sit back and leave Brazil try and get an opening, then hit them on the break. If it continues as it did in the first half, there won't be 22 players left on the pitch at the end of it!

I'd say that was a satisfying obstruction from Melo, well deserved for Pepe's dirty challenge (standing on Melo's ankle).

Might be good idea to sub Pepe too, he could either get another yellow or get injured thru' fouls.

Still thought they need Brazil to win, which, after the first half looks possible, maybe even probable if Portugal dont step it up a bit!!!

I'd go with Giles. Yellow was enough. Closer to goal and it may have been red. Especially in the box, red card and peno.

It wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Sorry this is probably a stupid question but how did the teams ranked 1rst and 3rd in the world end up in the same group, and also they have guranteed that either the 1rst or 3rd team in the world will meet the 2nd in ranked team on the world.

Don't know tbh ...... luck of the draw... all teams were seeded so this wouldn't happen - but I guess the system isn't fool proof.

And FIFA are big fools

Edit: The reason above plus the fact that many seeded teams have either gone out or qualifed in 2nd in their groups have also messed things up. Also how Greece are rated so highly I'll never know!!

Ivory Coast really shot themselves in the foot when Keita got Kaka sent off.. Brazil don't look half as dangerous without him.

It is an appalling spectacle (and a nothing match between two fairly evenly paired teams) - I haven't heard anyone rave about how good it is.
