Also Fable 2. Fallout. Saints row 1+2(well most of it) and more recently Alan Wake.

I know were you are coming from OP I always groan with annoyance when an NPC support character turns up. Feels like i'm being cheated out of shooting bad guys

You've got 2 teammates with you all the time in mass effect 2.

Oblivion is amazing, fallout 3 is really good too.

Alan Wake is alright.

To be honest I got bored of Arkham after 20 minutes or so...Would not recommend - Just my opinion though

Oh and Bioshock is one of the best stories you'll come across - Not normally my type of game but the story more than made up for it.

I'm currently playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Great game thus far.

Also Alan Wake is a good single player game.

And it has been mentioned before but Arkham Asylum is an essential game.

Borderlands ? I hear its supposed to be much better multiplayer but I did the whole campaign alone and quite enjoyed it.

As was said above, Mass Effect should really be avoided if you don't like computer controlled team mates!

Maybe Lost Odyssey if you fancy an RPG?

Saying that, I was never irritated by them and you can order them around. They are also quite potent and useful.

Unlike Halo or Call of Duty when they all stop in a doorway and you can't get past them. And are completely useless in combat.
