Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It should be a good game. Argentina has a better history of match wins between the two. Messi should be able to unlock their defence and I can't see it being a problem for Argentina.

Everyone thought that Argentina would walk past Mehico in 2006 but had to take a wonder-goal from Maxi in extra-time to see them through 2-1. This is a tough game for Argentina but they should have enough alright. An early Mehico goal would really set this game up for a classic encounter.

Mexico to win 1-0 with a handball goal :D

This could be the game of the tournament, imo.

    I'll say 3-1 to Argentina.

Good excuse as any to show 1 of my favourite goals of all time.

I personally think this will be the best game of the day. I expect goals with Argentina to come through.

Can we see some of that at Liverpool next year pleeeeease??

Tempted to put a few quid on Arg to win-to-nil, but Uruguay disappointed me today with the same but so I'm having doubts. 5/4 isn't too bad I reckon.

Is all of Ireland still a Mexico fan after what they did to France for us?

I would have liked to see Mexico do well if they were playing any other team but my loyalties are lying solely with the Argies for this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,435 ✭✭✭TiGeR KiNgS

Even against the Argies defense I cant see mexico scoring given what we have seen of their strike force so far. 2:0 Argentina

If anyone is looking for somewhere around Dublin cc to watch this, head to Buskers in Temple Bar. It's the official Mexico support base for the WC. Was good laugh with all the Mexicans for their last group game. And the wimminz! Arriba!

Looking forward to this one - can now enjoy football for the sake of the game, rather than getting wrapped up in misplaced patriotic fervour. I feel like I've been released - no more watching dire football and hoping that we somehow get through, followed by exactly the same thing next time.

English football fans should be able to enjoy the rest of the World Cup.

Is there no respite? Messi to finally break his duck. 2-1 Argentina

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Messi is overdue a couple of goals at this stage, surely he'll have to bag one or two today against a not too solid Mexican defence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

really looking forward to this!!! :D

    Argentina 2-1 Mexico

Yeah and Maradona had everybody fooled again with his Jonas is one of the three certainties on his team. Otamendi starts at right back and Jonas on the bench.

Cant see Mexico winning by any stretch , they are very poor up front.

Yeah they depend too much on their fullbacks bombing forward and they will have their hands full tonight. If Salcido goes and they lose the ball it likely leaves one of Messi, Higuain or Tevez in space.

    Higuain first scorer. :)

    Veron not starting is strange

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

By far the most factual pre game analysis done by RTE ever! ;)

I have backed Germany to win world cup so hoping its Mexico that can pull through tonight.

Fancy Argentina 3-2. Think it be great game

Up and running now in Joburg, not going to make any predictions but I'll be supporting Argentina tonight.

Good bit of end to end attacking there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

This looks like it will be a cracker, Mexico know there is no point relying on their dodgy defence to keep out Arg so they may as well attack from the start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,682 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    go wan chico

Giovanni Dos Santos doing very well in this tournament I think. Surprising for such an awful (ex-Championship?) player, but can work well where better players don't..

Funny, because I switched from RTE to BBC HD because of the pic quality, then switched again because I hate the colour commentator on BBC. His voice just bothers me.

    I'm hard to please.
