Quick question, I was down in Valentia Island last week and part of their local history exhibit was a couple of comments about objections being made from Protestant clergy about the setting up of the local national school (1850s-60's) and having to wait from a couple of them to retire ( I think) before being able to go ahead with it. There was no more info on it and was wondering what the issues were, either there or if it was a more common problem?

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

National schools were run by different denominations and there were at times conflict between the different faiths about who would get to set up a school in an area and the like.
