Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've seen the Tec 40 course advertised , has anyone done it in Ireland? If you have , is it worth it?

According to Rianne Smith (from Aquaventures)'s posts on Facebook, their first two Tec40 students finished it yesterday. She supplied their names. Maybe you could ask them how they found it if you know them or know anyone that knows them. Diving in Ireland's a fairly small community!

As far as i know the course Aquaventures teach is a TDI course and Tec 40 is a padi course. Cillian in scubadivewest teaches the Tec40 so maybe have a chat with him and maybe talk to Jerry in aquaventures about the TDI course for a comparison.

Sorry, you're right, it was TDI not Tec 40.

Also, one of the Instructors in Adventure Diving is a techie too and I think I heard someone saying he/they may offer the Tec 40 in the future.

Declan Burke in Donegal teaches all the PADI TecRec courses: http://www.divindec.com/

I haven't done any of the TecRec courses yet but doing the Deep Diver and nitrox courses with Declan and he's a very good instructor.

I see from his ad on divegear.ie that he's doing the TecRec40 for €340 .

From what little i know of it, it's supposed to be a great course even if your not planning on going the tec route, in terms of safety and knowlodge of decompression diving.

I think First4scuba in Arklow are running the Tec 40 course at the moment,

I've done all my courses with them and they are very good instructors.

To be honest PADI are not well know for their tec diving. IANTD and TDI have been in this business for a long time. I've done courses with both agencies and their both the same level really in terms of course materials.

The instructor... now thats what makes the difference.

Thanks everyone, as was said above, I want to do it more for the extra bit of knowledge and safety rather than as a step to going deeper.
