Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quick - possibly silly - question. I've just downloaded the update. It's now asking if I want to install the update but again warning about a 80 MB download (which would bring me periously close to the edge of my data plan). I presume it doesn't download *another* 80 MB?

Set the date to november, restarted and hey presto 'would you like to update?'

    :)

On 1.5 I told the phone to ignore the contacts on the SIM card. I've done this again for 2.1 in People, but when I use Smart Dial or look for people when sending a message I get the duplicates. Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Cheers.

Other than that i'm liking the update, phone seems to be running smoother and the keypad entry is a lot better and more fluid.

Anyone having issues with phone internal memory since going to 2.1? I am now getting a warning that 'phone storage space is getting low' and get the impression from a quick google that this is a 2.1 issue. Anyone else see the same? Any solution?

    Hey,

Can anyone recommend a text to speech app for 2.1/the hero? Would be good if Swype had one as I use it anyway

    I bump this

I cant find the function to search by voice... Is this function available on the Hero?

Same for me. No Google Search By Voice. I tried to find it out from apps market. But no luck. Guess it is not available in Ireland. Sigh.....

Noticed since the update the wifi keeps disabling when going to lock screen? Very irriatating considering if I get a mail I wont get notified until I unlock the handset?

Have wifi sleep mode set to "never turn off" using spare parts app but made no difference.

It depends, did you download the first preliminary update?

To get the Hero ready for Android 2.1 HTC released a small update a few weeks ago.

The actual Android 2.1 update was released a 2 days ago.

If you haven't got either of them the first download and install was the preliminary update and the second big 80MB one is Android 2.1.

The first update was only a few kilobytes I think.

Am i missing something. I'm on a meteor hero. I have no option of an update in the Settings/About Phone menu. I have tried putting the date forward to November and turned off and on the phone. Any suggestions?

Scratch that. I changed my date to 2011 and it offered me the update in a couple of seconds of returning to the home screen.

Has anyone who has had a rooted hero with a custom ROM installed tried out the official 2.1 ROM?

Is there a significant difference between any custom ROM they've used and the official 2.1 update?

Argh when my alarm goes off in the morning my volume rocker doesn't make it snooze anymore!

I've checked in the settings and I have it set to snooze with the side button but no joy :(

I first moved it to July with no joy but after changing to November it worked perfectly.

I had to to install two updates. It took quite a bit of time and got stuck at 40 and then maybe 70-80% but I let it run and hey presto, it's all good.

I'm really liking 2.1, haven't come across any problems thus far. The update gmail is lovely.

there are no advantages to changing only that your on an official ROM

everything looks and feels the same, it IS the same thing effectively

If you go to Official, you LOSE ROOT ACCESS

    Two problems:

    My clock reset to 1980
    Market has stopped working

When I enter the "market", it opens for a second and then just exits outs. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've tried resetting the Market cached data through manage applications to no avail. I've rebooted the phone just in case something funny happened on first boot after the upgrade.

    Firmware version: 2.1-update1
    Kernel Version: 2.6.9-063c4d24
    Software number: 3.32.405.1

UPDATE: and it seems it suddenly started working again, ah well.

Got it there last night and........... very nice. It's almost like having a whole new phone. Things seem faster and smoother. I haven't had a chance to look at it in depth but will do so eventually. Two things that I did notice however and which I don't like are:

It now shows Album Art in the photo browser which is a pain in the ass
It's listing my Google contacts with my phone contacts which is annoying

    Overall though a welcome update.

It's listing my Google contacts with my phone contacts which is annoying Go to settings and switch off the contacts group you don't want to see...
