Pretty good that, I'll look for Suarez though instead of Forlan.

Anyway, to say I have no clue how this one will go is an understatement.

Two teams that Spain will find it hard to breakdown IMO is Brazil and Portugal, both of which are quite similar in style. It'll be a tight game I reckon.

    These most interested me -
    Portugal to win @ 10/3
    Draw @ 21/10
    Ronaldo anytime @ 21/10

I'll definitely be doing a live treble again as well.

think spain will struggle bigtime to beat portugal also

ill have a stab at the draw myself

Why are the asian handicap markets on Betfair so small for this, i.e theres no -1 or -1.5 for Spain?

    Not sure about this game.

Might go for the card index 50 points or lower at 11/10

Have to find out who is the ref hoe many cards there were in previous Spain/Portugal games.

Think Portugal battering North Korea papers over the cracks a little bit. They qualified via the play offs behind Denmark. With the exception of Ronaldo (who they don't seem to get the best out of), they don't have an abundance of decent players compared to the "golden generation" of years ago.

Spain on the other hand look very good to me. Like Brazil they are one of the few teams who can actually defend as well as attack.

Like the 2.1 on Spain and will have a nibble.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭AidySevenfold

    Recent bets are

    brazil -1 and spain

    brazil -1 and spain -1

Uruguay and Germany to win. Germany at 11/5? crazy price i think..

    I disagree.

First of all qualification form is irrelevent. I think what we have seen in the group stages is far more relevent. England qualified handy enough whereas Argentina struggled to get there...... Now I think Argentina are slightly over rated but you see what I'm saying.

Spain have looked worse than Portugal IMO. Portugal came out of the "group of death" without having conceded a goal. Spain on the other hand have struggled to find the form of Euro 2008 due largely IMO to del Bosque's team selections (4 - 5 central midfielders on the pitch at the same time) and unless they drop one of Busquets or Alonso I think they'll struggle without width. They were second best against Chile until they were gifted a goal and then a dubious sending off which handed them the game effectively, and they still managed to make it difficult for themselves. They didn't look sharp against the Swiss, and you'd expect them to beat Honduras.

Portugal have a good defence and enough matchwinners in the team to edge this similar to the way the Swiss beat Spain IMO.

I'm going with Portugal on this.

Wanted to do just Villa to Score anytime & spain just to win, but i couldnt see it anywhere on Bet365.:(

I've done a few little bets, am waiting for Japan to qualify on an acc, for just over 20 quids , so i went on to spend 15 quid on a few bets including a spain
    (1/1) - Paraguay (6/5) Double, and Spain -0.5 -1 / Paraguay -0.5 -1 Double(@4.8). Also a Japan/Spain double

Portugal are more than decent, great defence & a superb goalkeeper but in the midfield i think they are not as strong as Spain.

Good luck to everyone with your bets

    Possibly.

And also if Kaka had played. But I'm looking at the facts. Regardless of the circumstances, they didn't concede. Don't forget Portugal didn't need to win either though, a draw was a perfect result for them also. I think the last half hour neither team tried that hard.

Have a few bets for this:
    €1 D.Villa 1st scorer
    €1 G.Pique A/T scorer
    €1 C.Ronaldo A/T scorer
    €2 Spain(-2.0)

    Two doubles
    €1 Correct score double
    Spain 2-1 Portugal
    Paraguay 2-1 Japan

    €3 double
    Spain to beat Portugal
    Paraguay to beat Japan

    With PP?

I presume it was a mistake.

I made a 150 euro bet accidentally on Sunday and rang PP's helpline right away and explained I wanted to make a 15 euro bet blah blah blah. Your man said they don't normally do this but he said he'll cancel it. Probably due to my betting pattern plus the distress in my voice :P

The 150 was in my account within a minute.

    Portugal +.5 @ 1.85 for myself. With 365.
I saw 11/2 in PP on Ronaldo and Villa to score, small bet on that too.

Kinda nervous now, oh well it's done, now we play the waiting game...:(

    Villa to score anytime 7/5

    Ronaldo to score anytime 12/5

    Tiago to score anytime 15/1

    Both teams to score 5/4

( I like this one) Spain to score in both halves 5/2

Hope there's an early goal and it will be a cracker.

Why would you DNB them @ 7/4 when you could back them to Qualify @ 7/4

Fair enough you'll lose if they get beat in ET or Pens but you'll win if they win in ET or Pens

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,515 ✭✭✭Hoki

Went for all long odds bets in this one , hopefully one of them will come off + Paddy is refunding all 1st scorer / scorecast / correct score bets if it finishes 0-0 which is definitely a possibility.

    A Iniesta 1st scorer @ 10/1

    Tiago 1st scorer @ 25/1

    1-1 Draw Match Bet @ 5/1

    David Villa 1st scorer / Spain win 1-0 @ 14/1

Might have a few more bets before kick off as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 605 ✭✭✭Lmao_Man

Just wondering what are peoples opinions on this game during the 90 mins.

Wanted to back Spain but at evens I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Can't see any value really in this game.

Tough game to call, could be high scoring or a nil all bore.
I'm looking at Ramos to be booked at 6/4, any thoughts?

Really can't see how qualification form is irrelevent. England came through a very easy qualification group but they haven't beaten anyone decent in years. While France struggeld through theirs and it was no real surprise they bombed in the finals.

Argentina did struggle but it does show the quality of the opposition from their group as the South American teams have done well. I'd agree that they are over rated though.

Put it this way, I'd be much happier going draw not bet at 2.0 on the Japanese in the last game than putting the same bet on Portugal for this.

Just can't see past the Spanish. Much better team in my opinion.

Spain will be out after tonight. ;)

Portugal are a very competent team, Don't let in many, Don't score many but Ronaldo will trouble Spain and Meireles will play class, 1-0 Portugal.

    My bets.

    Portugal to win 1-0 @ 9/1 (Powers)

    Portugal to qualify @ 7/4 (Bet365)

Raul Meireles to score first @ 28/1 (BlueSQ)

Ive a e20 double on 0-0 both games, stand to win 1050 if spain and portugal draw 0-0. Someone suggested back the game to have over.05 goals to cover my self and lock in 500+ profit. How does this work. odds for over 0.5 is 1/18

It's relevent yes but it's not the be all and end all. How about this. Brazil in 2002 almost failed to qualify but then won the tournament. A lot of qualifying games were a year or 2 ago. Players experience dips in form etc etc.

Spain are a much better team I agree. On paper. But at the moment tehy haven't found the correct balance in midfield in this tournament. And Torres is horribly off form. They have played one solid defensive team so far, and lost. Portugal are a much better team than the Swiss. Rock solid defence, and far better mmidfielders. Their main problem is they don't have a prolific striker. But I think they have a great chance tonight.

Also, interestingly, although Spain have won this tie more than Portugal have, the Portuguese have only lost this tie once since 1958

I see others have gone for Meireles to score as well :D
Been impressed with him and how he makes so many very good late runs into the box to support the attack.

Portugal have played absolute puke football in two of their group matches. Good defensively, poor midfield and no strikeforce. Spain to dominate in midfield and they have players that will take chances.

    Spain @ 21/10
    Spain over 1.5 goals @ 11/8

Also have Villa to outscore Rooney and Ronaldo in a spread bet so go Villa!!

Gone with Spain to win. 200 Euro at evens. Yeah the odds are good for Portugal but i don't really see any value in it. Spain haven't really clicked yet but i expect them to do so now in the knock out stage. They have been unbelieavable over the past 2 years while Portugal have failed to impress. Most of the games they have kept clean sheets in have been against far inferior teams. They also have a problem in the goal scoring department. Their result against North Korea was gifted to them as Korea gave up.
