i have a '05 renault megane 1.6 16v petrol. theres a noise in the engine when you start it from cold or whenever it has been sittin for a while. its to do with oil pressure, once the pressure builds up the noise disappears so the noise only lasts for about 3 seconds. it sounds like the noise is coming from the timing variator on the inlet camshaft pully.

It frightened the bejeasus outa me cause it first heard the noise, restarting the car after changing the timing belt. i asked the customer and she said the noise was in it for the last 2 and a half years

anyone have problems like this or any advice for me?

Had the same problem with an 05 1.6 aswell. It only happens the 1.6 by all accounts. But it was the subject of a recall if I remember right so maybe check with the service dept of a Renault dealership. Might even be free...
