Nope no major supermarkets in Bantry.. largest one is supervalue and tbh its a crap one.
nearest Lidl is in Skibbereen, nearest Dunnes stores is Clonakilty or Bishopstown and nearest Aldi is probably Ballincollig.

If the old VG was on new street with the paper shop on one side and the credit union on the other, then yes!!

No,in the 20 or so years i have lived here there has been a lot of changes,
the paper shop is now part of supervalue,so is the old credit union, the saddlers on main st, is long gone, the clinic is gone, kilgoban also,(its enough to drive you to drink;))

The cobblers, not surprising them two old boys would be in their 90s now.

kilgoban again not surprising was always shutting an reopening when I knew it, (It was actually sold by lottery once) handy pool table in the back for a game of pool when we was at school

    Where was the Clinic?

Best thing about Bantry in the seventies was the sweet shop Dr. Cotters aunts use to run

The clinic main st opposite Atlantic house, let see the kilgoban owners,a mr Fox i believe,a chap who has since turned his hand to printing, ken and r,a yank who won the place,a neighbour of mine who shall remain nameless and a well known estate agent,it is now an off licence

Lots of local knowledge there... What about Bandon? Asking for someone hoping to relocate to West Cork ..... Cork City must be busy traffic wise?

But maybe a shopping centre on the outskirts in the Bandon side?

Bandon to cork 35 minutes,or so can be brutal in the rush hour (innishshannon village) there are plenty of shopping centres on that side of cork, bishopstown court, wilton, mahon point the CUH is also on that side.the city centre is best avoided, traffic, cost of parking,if you must go into it, there is a park and ride on the south link road (easy to get to).
