Cat5 Wiring an Old House

    Hello,

Unfortunately I didn't wire my house with Cat5 6 or so years ago when it was built. Although I have a wireless setup which works fine for web access, it's not quite up to snuff for streaming HD movies internally.

There is actually enough of an overhang at the bottom of the house to run some Cat5 without it being overly obvious so I wanted to run it to a couple of rooms.

How do I find someone to do this work who knows about networking (It's 95% just running wires but I want to make sure they get the right outdoor cable etc.)

Do I start with electricians? Its not the kind of job to go to someone like Smart Homes as its an existing build and a small job.

    Thanks

Where abouts are you based and maybe someone here might have an engineer they use near you that they trust? I would avoid most electricians as a lot of them do data cabling because their asked to not because they know how to. Also avoid most all rounder IT guys. You need someone who eats and sleeps data cabling. There are a few of us on here so as I say, post your county or town and maybe someone will give you a name of a guy they've used themselves and know the work.

Glad your taking this route, fair play... By the way go Cat 6 if the terrain will allow, especially if you want todays HD and tomorrows super duper HHHHHD TV..!!
