Cat C write off- how safe?

Just looked at a car today. It was a catagory c write off but has now been repaired.
It passed the NCT last week and seemed to drive perfect. At the mo it's awaiting engineers report.
The guy in the garage told me that he repaired the bonnet, wing and headlamp. No damage was done to the chasis.
As it's for a young family safety is crucial.
    1. Would the insurer write off a €10k car for this amount of damage?
    2. Would you feel safe if it were your wife and kids in it?

    Cat C...
unecononical to reapir.. it could be scratches and dents on every panel to a hard hit in one area.

get a copy of the repair invoice and check with the repairer they did the work and that it is all done to a high standard...

Should be a big big drop in price for a cat c......

If repaired correctly, it should be just as safe as any other car. Engineers Report should give a great picture of how good the repair is.

in cases of CAT C write offs, the underwriters decide that the repair out weighs the vaue of the finished car, though in this case the value of the car seems a long way in front of the said repair!
also to add your own insurer may have an issue with it, and may not pay the book value in a further lost,
also the day you buy is reflected in the day you sell,
any discount now will be given back the day you decide to resell.
