Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    :pac: Are you serious?

Except for the Serbia game I think Germany have been more than convincing this tournament.

Yeah I am serious. Of course they have looked good but hammering poor defences like England and Argentina doesn't make them world champs.

We will see how they get on in the semi-finals and whether they can make me a believer then.

The Spanish defence haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either

Iniesta will probably never get any baloon door or any of that ****e, but he really is a special player, in the top three of this generation.

Technically England have a very strong defense but they fell apart against Germany

    Bananas!

They've still performed miles better than Spain.. The Dutch the only other team that deserve the credit Germany do.. And they havent played as well as Germany either!

Lol. Even if they went out on Wednesday they absolutely are THE team of the tournament. What a boring contest it would be without germanys spark.

Yeah that's true but I can see Spain dominating possession and no longer having to face teams that park the bus.

I wouldn't say they had a very strong defence personally.

So what if they performed better? That doesn't mean they ARE better. You mention the Dutch, Brazil performed better than them and lost to them. ;)

Jesus Paraguay could have equalised twice there!

I agree 100 per cent. However I backed Spain to win and I stick by it.

Only the German hype comes on the back of two 4 goal wins. I doht like the hype myself but in Germanys case at least it's based on performances shown not on past merits.

Is it still hype of they are backing it up with performances?

Ah come on, there are plenty of excellent defenders in England's teams. Granted, they didn't play well as a team but let us not discount what the Germans did to them like that.

    Love RTE commentry...

Sergio ramos has just taken it in the face - its a world cup quarter final, you don't expect him to pull out....

Im sure they do it on purpose

The goals they conceded were laughably bad. I don't agree there were excellent defenders there (form-wise).

Ye i suppose..... Although the Dutch are the only team in the competition with an 100% record... Ah still they deserve no plaudits:rolleyes:

    FT 1-0!

Spain vs Germany shall be interesting!

Well done Spain. Villa is in with a shout of being player of the tournament.

    Well, I don't know then.

Maybe you will persist with that argument all the way to the final - e.g. that Germans haven't been impressive because they only beat the Aussie, English, Argentine defence......AND THEN PERHAPS....the Spanish and Dutch defences.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,682 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Germany must be very confident they can beat this Spanish side

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,814 ✭✭✭Nemanja91

From their performances germany shouldn't be worried but spain could still show up on the day and play them off the park, I think the germans deserve to win though, it should be a good match on wednesday night.

Well we'll find out now cos they are playing a pretty dubious Spanish defence!

Del Bosque must be murder to be with at a casino

Credit to Paraguay for a brilliant performance, I always felt they would pay for 120 minutes the other night and so they did.

I would think so but Germany's style of play will suit the Spanish.

    The odds will be interesting.

If the Germans beat Spain I will be a believer. I think we can all agree though Spain are the biggest test the Germans will have faced in the competition.

    Should be a fascinating game.

I made myself an honorary Paraguayan as they were my last chance of me winning money.

I'll be supporting Germany in the semis. Pity Muller will miss the game

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

David Villa has to start in the centre for the next game. They were so much better with him up front. He's easily the best striker in the world.

Well done Paraguay, they left absolutely nothing on the pitch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Spain to romp this one. Money on a Torres hat-trick and Spain 4-0, 5-0, 6-0 and 7-0.

    Ah well, close.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

I would be more confident of Uruguay beating Holland, than Spain beating Germany, thus preventing the 'dream final'!

RTE loving Iker's save from Roque but completely forgetting that it was him who spilled the ball in the first time.
