Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Which is the better processor?

    Looking to buy a laptop soon enough and trying to get an idea of what a decent processor is considered to be these days. I'm just looking at 2

    Pentium Dual-Core T4400 @ 2.20GHz
    Intel Core2 Duo T7500 @ 2.20GHz

    I've been told that Core2 Duo is a better processor than the dual-core processors which is fair enough. I was told that the main reason that the core2 due was faster is that it has 4 times the cache.

    The Dual-Core is significantly better, can anyone explain why or are the results rubbish, it kind of throws the "core2 duo are better" out the window

    That T7500 is almost 4 years old. The pentium T4400 was only released at the end of last year. They seem to be exactly the same bar the amount of L2 cache and the newer processor uses the more efficient 45nm manufacturing process. Maybe this has something to do with it? I don't really know enough about this.
    Also the CPU mark test for the T7500 was probably done in 2006/7 and the software could have changed in the meantime, which could affect the test results.

    It's hard to compare the 2 but if it was me I would be buying the laptop with the newer processor.
