Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't decide who I want to lose most so I'll just hope for a game as gripping as last nights.

I'd say it's pretty deliberate what Lahm and Schweinsteiger were doing. I mean the 2006 game is pretty fresh in peoples memory. The Argentiniens went nuts after the game, there was bloody altercations and Frings got suspended over it for the semi final.
So the team must have come to the conclusion that the Argentiniens are a bit hotheaded and it might not be a bad idea to stir a bit of sh1t.
They needed some football match in order to realise that?!

I'm going for 9-8 to the germans after penalties.

That 1986 final was something else. 1990 one though was as bad as Rudi Vollers hairdo.

No Didi back for the big game, or is he simply waiting for the final? ;)

    Yeah, he did

He came on as a substitute against Norway in 94, but I think that was his only involvement that year!

Pre season has started at MK Dons so Didi will be there as he is a Player/coach there.

    I know couldn't believe that!

Giles is right. Maradona and Argentina have not been tested. Whereas Germany have.

I would love to see Maradona lift the World Cup but I love the way the Germans have taken a chance with their young players,

Also it would be the first time Germany would lift the Cup since reunification.

So I'm not siding any team for the moment. But if Argentina start diving and over reacting I will definitely be behind Germany

    Really looking forward to this!

It should be a great game. Germany could win convincingly as could Argentina. Or it could go to penalties. It's a tough one to call. I'll go for 1-0 Germany AET.

Don't know who I want to win this, my two favourite teams in this WC so far.

Pity it's only the quarters really :(

    I hope football wins

Does the Argy anthem have any words or is it general mumblings.

Dunno who i want to see go through here. I would love to see a Uruguay v Argentina final 80 years after the original world cup final with the same teams. But having spent a week in germany during the knockout stages of this years tournament i have to throw my support behind germany for all the free booze thrown my way by merry germans eager to celebrate their teams success.

It's in Spanish, so you probably don't understand it

    Oíd, mortales, el grito sagrado:
    "¡Libertad, libertad, libertad!"
Oíd el ruido de rotas cadenas,
ved en trono a la noble igualdad.
    Ya su trono dignísimo abrieron
    las Provincias Unidas del Sud
y los libres del mundo responden:
    "Al gran pueblo argentino, ¡Salud!"
    "Al gran pueblo argentino, ¡Salud!"
Y los libres del mundo responden:
    "Al gran pueblo argentino, ¡Salud!"
Y los libres del mundo responden:
    "Al gran pueblo argentino, ¡Salud!"

    Sean eternos los laureles
    que supimos conseguir,
    que supimos conseguir.
    Coronados de gloria vivamos...
    ¡o juremos con gloria morir!,
    ¡o juremos con gloria morir!,
    ¡o juremos con gloria morir!

    There'll be trouble yet.

    Did Muller even touch it.
The keeper was static once he crouched down.

Nice ponytail though in fairness. He should put it in a bun to make it really nice.
