How reliable is broadband linechecker

    just looking into ordering broadband from eircom. its states on the linecheck that my line is capable of 2mb, I'm just wondering how they calculate this and is it reliable.

    It's based on the quality of your line, which they test. If it's saying you can only get 2Mbps, then that's probably about right. Maybe you'd get 3, but unlikely.

    The only accurate way is knowing the actual noise levels on the line,

    I was about to post about the line checker and saw this

    I got my line last week, rang eircom today to check if the line is suitable for BB and they said yeah no prob

    Checked on the eircom website it says I can have BB

    Every single other provider I check with states that its not in my area.

    Does it take time for this to filter through to other providers or something?
