Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Saab 9-5
    Toyota Altezza
    Mazda Rx8
    Skoda Octavia VRS
Honda Integra Type R 4 door

The skoda is swaying me so far but havent heard much about reliabilty and what not with them. So any advice appreciated!

Honda Integra Type R 4 door

Only available in 96/97 and are dog ugly not

    Audi a4 1.9tdi

I'd scratch all them off the list for various reasons, not very sporty, not great looking, altezza is brutal on juice.

I'd cut your list down to these:

    Mazda Rx8
    Skoda Octavia VRS

Of which I'd aim for the Rx-8 if you look up and learn about them.

As a second choice I'd go for the VRS

I think youd have to eliminate the RX8 straight away unless you did tiny mileage -SAVAGE MPG...And if you DO do tiny mileage why not consider a 3 series with big petrol engine ...not that the 320d isnt a VERY fast car under the right circumstances -and in the right hands....

Buy the 320d with an M body kit looks lovely

But the real money is on the Skoda Octavia VRS, great car I'm sure someone around here will tell you that as well :)

I would be getting insurance quotes before buying, could be talking a good few grand.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

You're 20 and you dream of owning a mediocre 4 door sh1tty engined saloon? ;)

If I were you I'd give the RX-8 a go. A very very good, very very revvy go. It's an ugly car and has too many doors, but so different from that pack. And make sure you rev the bejayis out of it at all times :)

You eliminate the Altezza for mpg reasons but you leave in the RX8? :)

I'd choose the RX8 over the Altezza for lots of other reasons, but economy is not one of them!

I also think the running costs of the RX8 while doing 300km per week has to be taken into consideration.

With all that being said, I'd imagine the RX8 would prove probably double the cost of the other cars here after the first year of ownership when you take insurance (on a 20yo), tax, petrol and oil into consideration!

I'd pick the RX8 over all of the listed cars every time... but it'd cost a lot more in the long term I think.

I'd recommend the A4 1.9TDI Sport if you can get your hands on one, I've had one for 2 years now and it ticks all your boxes.
I'm also selling mine but its slightly outside your price range.
I always thought the Octavia vrs looked quite sweet but haven't had the opportunity to drive one as yet.

Nah, I was too tired to write out all the reasons.

The Altezza and the Rx8 are poor on juice but the Rx8 is worth it, the Altezza is not.

Young guy of 21 doing 300 km a week in an RX8?
Not unless he wins the lotto or his dad is a banker.

I wouldn't worry about it 'til you're ready to buy, noone knows if your current situaution will change.
