Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

HP Laptop Woe

Hey apologies if this post is misguided. Basically I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 for 4 years now. I have never had any problems .....until recently:(. Now when I turn my laptop on it boots up fine until stage where icons in the tray are loading up at which point the loading cursor appears. The cursor moves freely about the page but none of the shortcut icons on the desktop work. It remains like this for approx twenty minutes after which it works as normal. The story does not end there, the laptop is also heating up very quickly and to a level which can not be healthy, and the USB drives appear to have given up also. I hear the "sound" when the a USB drive is inserted but when I go to my computer it doesn't recognise the drive. I'm guessing the three problems are connected as the all occured simultaneously. I realise this isn't a tech support facility but I'm hoping someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject give me a point in the right direction. i.e. do you think it is hard/software? Any experience of similar problems.

And most importantly any way to back up my files when USB drives ain't working. Is it feasible to backup my files on a server online?

    Any help is really appreciated

    Thanks:o

You could use dropbox (www.dropbox.com) for free online storage, I would run hard drive diagnostics on your machine as it could be that causing windows to load slowly, I wouild definately advise backing up everything if this is the case as a hard drive like that will give up at any stage, you can find hard drive diagnostics on THIS bootable CD
