I heard somewhere that you can rent a boat for a week and travel the Shannon.

Is there any info on this? Myself and the lads are thinking of doing this instead of going foreign this yeat on a session.

    Thanks.

I think the best boats (and most expensive) are Emerald Star who are based in carrick on shannon.

Athlone cruisers seem to have a much older fleet, but don't quote me on that!

    There's also Waveline in Athlone:

As Dukey says Waveline is the one to go for in the Athlone area, just a word of warning if you decide to hire in Carrick on Shannon, go with either Emerald Star or Carrickcraft, both excellent and professional.

Don't be tempted by another hirer based in Carrick. Red & white boats, look ok from a distance, dirty crappy tubs.

rented out a boat from emerald cruisers from portumna a few years back. used those super valu tokens and got a really good deal pricewise. might be an idea.
great fun by the way. 6 of us in total. 3 more joined us in athlone.

How about a normal boat? With oars etc. On a nice warm day I've met plenty of confused tourists wondering where they could find some boat rentals.
