See if you can pick up an HTC Hero second-hand, or even a Desire.

The Spica is damn good bang for your buck. Also it will get an upgrade to Eclair.

Already released. On O2 anyway. Fingers crossed it will get an upgrade to Froyo though, as there's only 147MB available for Apps. Other than that, it's a pretty good phone, I'd get more than 3 days out of one charge (albeit with data, GPS, bluetooth all turned off, and WiFi off 9 to 5). Fairly nippy phone as well

HTC Wildfire looks pretty tasty. Had a quick mess around with one and its impressive for a budget phone.

Looks to be just about E280-ish brand new on Amazon.co.uk.

Already has it. I got one last week, connected it up to the samsung phone manager and it said update available. 20 minutes later, it rebooted with 2.1-update1 installed.
This was without any need to root or download custom roms.

Good to hear it has landed, not in Ireland so wasn't sure.

Eclair is damn nice. Hopefully it'll get Froyo too.

Also does the Samsung spica have enough memory for apps?

    No.

    maybe

I have 147mb available for apps on a Spica running Android 2.1 (was 196 before I updated to 2.1 :(). I've run out of space, but I do have 100 apps installed, some of them fairly heavy on the storage (18mb for CoPilot FFS). Also, I've a fair amount of ones that I never really use, and could get rid if I wanted to install something else. It'll depend on what use you make of it tbh. Not sure how much space the x10 mini has available

Froyo is Android 2.2. One of its features is that it allows you to install apps to the SD Card instead of the phones internal storage, whic would solve the lack of space problem

Thanks. The spica still seems good to me. I don't think id need 100 apps anyways. I'm wondering if the interface is like the HTC or like older Samsung phones (which I don't like).
