Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't think its as bad as in other threads to be honest, picks up round the time of the bigger games and during the transfer windows, depending on the poster you can chose to engage in the bit of banter or shure you can simply hit the oul ignore button!:)

Beating them when they have 12 men will just make it sweeter imo.

It'll be 12 against 10 if he starts with Torres!

Seriously, hopefully Carlo remembers the CL debacle, where he admitted he made a mistake. I hope he starts 4-3-3 with Drogba leading the line, and with Torres and Yossi ready to come on the last 30 mins if needed. Admittedly Torres did start brightly but faded as Spurs battened down the hatches. I just dont think we can risk it for a big game like this.
The game will be won and lost in the midfield I believe, so we need to be strong there. Just look at the Arsenal game, Sagna and co was too strong for the weak 3 in midfield that Man U played.
We will hopefully have 2 pluses - Luiz can play and Man U will hopefully be a bit drained after playing Wednesday. We need the germans to score early (or anytime really) so Man U have to step up a gear.

Fergie must have put in a special request to get Mr Webb?

You lot got Atkinson for your home game, we get Howard for ours.;)

Yeah, you know what, you lot may aswell not turn up at all and just give us the 3 points now, i mean Webb is so clearly biased towards United that we will surely get 4 penalties each half and you will finish the game with 8 after having 18 perfectly good goals disallowed

Shocking that the FA cant see how biased the man is. If only fans on the internet got to make all the important decisions about football. We are surely the most impartial observers best placed to make these calls

Not like Webb has the credentials to be given the big games or anything

I'm not so worried about this. After recent events, I'm sure the officials will be well prepped about making the "correct" calls

The problem is that they will be terrified not to upset auld fergie or the utd home fans, I can see big decisions being bottled tbh.

A Drogba hat trick will REALLY upset them! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭bullpost

What worries me is that Carlo is more focussed on getting Torres to gel with the team and this may cloud his judgement with regards to getting our best eleven started in this game. I suspect that he feels that coming up with a workable system involving Torres is the only thing that will save his job for next season.
    I hope I'm wrong.

Was thinking that myself, surely he has to go with 4-3-3 and malouda, drogba and kalou.
Anything else would be a big mistake imo

I prefer the Anelka--Drogba--Malouda situation myself.
Kalou has proved time and again he is mad for coming off the bench and getting a goal. To qoute a mate of mine from back home:
(last season Chelsea vs Villa, Kalou is about to come on...)
Him: "Ahh I fúckin hate Kalou"
    Me: "hah? Whys that?"
Him: "Because all he does is come on and fúuukin' scoreee!"
(roars of laughter erupt around the living room, until another mate finally says)
"Shure why else would they bring him on ya ass!"

Times were good, times were good.

Yep, thats why I hope Kalou stays - he's a super sub. Useless at starting but has a bit of a Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about him.
Of course, replacing him with someone who CAN actually score when started would be nice

Actually, its a bit of a myth about him and chelsea

    Howard-Webb-stats.jpgStats from The Telegraph.
After 8 occasions when Webb has been in charge of Chelsea games, he has never awarded a penalty against them

September 20th 2009: Stone wall penalty not awarded against Chelsea
At 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Ricardo Carvalho brought down Robbie Keane in the box, but no penalty was given.
The Guardian: Absolute 100%, 24-carat stonewall penalty to Spurs. Not given. Keane was through,
but in by what may well have been an attempted control from Lennon,
Carvalho slides in just as Keane is set to pull the trigger.
Not a world class decision from the man who is supposed to be England’s world class refereee
April 10th 2010: Stone wall penalty not awarded against Chelsea II
At 0-0 in the FA Cup semi-final, John Obi Mikel brought down Agbonlahor in the box but nothing was given.
The Mirror: No surprise that Webb bottled Villa’s nailed-on Wembley penalty claim
In the same game, John Terry was guilty of making a horrific challenge on James Milner, clearly worthy of a red card, but was just shown a yellow card.

Its beyond imperative that we start 4-3-3.
I'm all about the Anelka--Drogba--Malouda to start off with.
Torres and Kalou will have to sit out this one I think. Too much at stake to be considering taking chances.

Do you lads think Kalou will be there next season? I really like him. He's a very good player and if he played 90 minutes every week I think he'd be class. He seems to do well as an impact sub too though, but perhaps he'll seek first team football?

If Chelsea are ahead with 20 mins left i'd throw on Torres as he'd be good for a goal with United pushing for a goal
