Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    In fairness to Rameries, he might not have been in the starting line up today if we had the choice of Lampard, Essien, Yossi even. After Rameries theres the likes of Josh, who would be far too young to be thrown in against Liverpool.
    I actually thought he really got stuck in for the second half.
    Zhirkov wasn't playing in his natural position either so he did the best he could. The midfield wasn't the stongest one we have, but it was the strongest we could field on the day. Thought some of Mikels long range passes deserve a mention, how many times did he manage to find Ivanovic in acres of space, fair play to him.
    In fairness, a moment of poor defending and a moment of sheer class got the better of us today, wouldn't dwell any more on it than that.

    I'd agree with most of that. Mikel is really turning into a special player and fulfilling his potential.

    A bottle of wine and a few cans was needed after that. :(

    Roll on Wednesday, hoping it will be a 5 point gap again come the end of the night.

    knew liverpool would raise their game against us, not starting drogs was a poor call , kalou can't cause the same threat, ramieres isn't an essien its true but if we had played the second half as we did the first, or had lampard or essien or evem mceachran on the field, it would have been a different scoreline. Anyway, still top, still have lampard and essien , only november and a long way to go. didn't enjoy my trip back from liverpool very much though :-(

    Thought this was interesting.

    Table this time last year,

    1 Chelsea 11 20 27
    2 Man Utd 11 12 25
    3 Arsenal 10 19 22

    Table this year,

    1 Chelsea 11 22 25
    2 Man Utd 11 11 23
    3 Arsenal 11 11 20

    Uncanny how the difference is the same.

    Time to give Josh a PL start????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭bullpost

    We'll get Essien and Lampard back soon so not because of injuries.
    I'd keep him for CL and perhaps cup stuff for time being.

    at least he tackles , which was sorely absent yesterday , i would think its a viable option, based on what we've seen of him

    We had gained 8 points comprated to last year compared to this year on results before the Liverpool game. We beat the "big 4" home and away last year, something which I doubt will be repeated anytime soon. So we can lose at Liverpool and still realisticly finish with more points then last season.

    ^^mixed feeling about that, a new ground would really send us nicely down the road to self-sufficency

    Plus, there is some legal stupidity attached to Chelsea leaving The Bridge... I'm very open to correction, but I think if Chelsea F.C. leaves Stamford Bridge, they can no longer call themselves Chelsea F.C.!!!! Again, I'm well open to correction on this one, but I think I remember reading that somewhere.

    Suppose they could always do the Pro-Evo on it and just call the team 'West London Blue' or something...:o:rolleyes:

    I heard this, but that means he has Malaria ?? there is no cure ...

    There is a cure for it, C Cole had it and she's recovered.

    Delighted to hear that he came through it,

    kinda explains some of his performances recently .

    Hopefully we put Fulham to the sword tomorrow , no mercy to be shown what so ever .

    I think the whole man u team down with the flu thing is a bit of AF's mind games madness

    I wouldn't be so sure,
    Toure was never the same player again,
    and every bout of sniffles he gets will be magnified and could become a concern,

    I feel for the brute.

    The team that I would like to see tonight is...

    =Cech
    Bos----Ivan---JT---cole
    essien---mikel

    Malouda
    Kalou---Drogs----Anelka

    But carlo will probably put ramires in midfield and drop kalou if anelka is fit. I like malouda in that central position, I think he can cause more problems there. I think we will win 2-0 tonight but it will be tough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭ShoulderChip

    Any win would do me purely to go 3 more ahead of united.
    I can't see them getting a goal let alone a point in Manchester.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Chelsea

    * 01 Cech
    * 02 Ivanovic
    * 03 A Cole
    * 17 Bosingwa
    * 26 Terry

    * 12 Mikel
    * 15 Malouda
    * 18 Zhirkov
    * 11 Drogba
    * 21 Kalou

    the oul bench doesn't look too shoddy either.
    Just after reading Anelka has a back problem, hope its a minor thing.
    Hes been pretty daycent this season so far.

    Well, points wise with united drawing it is a good result, 4 points clear
    but we need to open the scoring machine again - what is wrong with the team ??

    Lampard returning could make a difference but we can't be relying on Lamps forever .

    Nothing really , we cud of got 4 or 5 goals tonight , it was just one of them nights and in the end we ended up under a bit pressure , but the supposedly past it Terry was immense , won everything in the air (couple of lads in Sundays match thread saying he's done!!!)

    The problem is we don't move the ball quick enough and we didn't take our chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Not nice too see from Essien on Dempsey although I'm 100% convinced that Dempseys elbow on Bosingwa was deliberate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Seem to remember a couple of years ago Dempsey elbowed JT in the face as well.:mad:

    stupid , well i cant really call it a challenge , id expect a 3 game ban coming for him , really silly .

    At least lamps will be back to cover him , Ramieres was very solid when he came on

    Yeah saw that on the beeb,

    He was a good 10 years there or so? When was his current one due to expire?

    I read it that they were not going to extend or offer him a new one, so he has left now?

    Ya say joke, but thats who came right to my mind too! I know he rejected a coaching role before when carlo took over, but a year is a long time.

    looks like we're not the only ones to think it. Zola would be excellent. Knows the english game and would have the instant respect of the squad.
