Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

I work for Co-operation Ireland who organise the event. I think there were over 900 cyclists in total. It went well, good vibe, lovely weather and overall people enjoyed it, though I gather there were some very tough hills after Drogheda on the way down which were not appreciated after already cycling 90 miles or so. I'm not involved in our events side of things but from what I've heard we had to go with this route at the request of the Gardai - it wouldn't have been our 1st choice of route.

Agree with that, a very well organised event as always-it has to be one of the best organised events in Ireland. Yes there was some nasty hills around Naul on the way down - we past quite a few cyclists walking.

I didn't do the Maracycle but I did pass a few people around Bellewstown/Stamullen area when I was out training, I frequently go training in this area as it has the toughest hills near where I live.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw maracyclers on such a hilly route and I felt sorry for the many I saw walking with their bikes, particularly considering the old N1 is practiaclly pan-flat and very quiet.

Easy for the Gardai to nominate a hilly route when they don't have to cycle it.
