Help! HWCH image selection!

Hey guys,

As some of you will know HardWorkingClassHeroes is back on this year.
This'll be my first year where I might have a shout of getting in. Only thing is - I'm AWFUL at selecting images. So I was wondering if you guys could help.

Thanks in advance - I'm totally at sea here. I'm still not really sure what the people want to see. I know my favourites, but I'm not sure that's any help!

My choices'd be: 2, 5, 8, 13, 19

but some of them choices are interchangeable for me (similar to the choices you picked).

I don't know what HWCH is, but #13 is a great photo. I don't normally like gig photos (I like music, I like photos... go figure!) but I really like that one.

In no particular order other than numerical 2, 3, 12, 13, 19,

Def include some with instruments, a lot of these are more like portraits.
Then again HWCH maybe are into that?

No one but the judges will know what they are looking for - one person's stunning portrait is a bore to someone else.

Go with your gut and what you are proud of, and if that needs influencing by the most popular voted here then so be it.

I felt proud to get through last year with my picks until I found out that virtually everyone who entered got accepted.

7 is the standout there for me.
2 and 20 could be taken anywhere (i.e. they don't specifically look like they might have been taken at a gig), so i'd stick to the more identifiably gig shots, unless they're real standouts.

It was 61 last year...far too many!

myself sinead and baz were in last year amount others, a shed load got in. remember theres a theme each year tho so photos may not suit

3,4,7,12,13, would be my choice. Good luck. Got through myself last year,but havent really done much gigs this year. Some great shots you have to choose from but as you can see everyone has different opinions. I think hwch pick more of the cool/lighting shots over the bigger artists pics.

Which I totally hate when it comes to Gig photography, to me it doesn't catch the proper feel and sweat of a gig, it's just artistic bs

Thanks for all the help people - still not really any the wiser, but it seems that the Two Door Cinema Club on is in (yellow).

Should be pretty stiff competition - hopefully I'll get in!

Sorry for not being as familiar with your work as I probably should be, just been browsing your blog and your shots are excellent - quick question out of curiosity, when you go to a gig are you on an official list to get a photographer position, or do you just jostle your way up the front?

I'm on the list!

My blog has only about 50% of my work - same with my flickr. Lots of red tape with these things. 'Not to be shown here, or there... etc.'

Been in the last two years. Last year was a bit meh alright - I didn't even bother going to any of the gigs. Haven't taken a single gig shot in well over a year now, so I'm out this year Can't say I'm even the tiniest bit sad about that TBH.

4,8,13,19 and the last one for me. If you can catch DotOrg on here though he'd be the man (and bar a few others, probably the only man - sorry!) I'd be listening to. Apart from being the best gig photographer on here by a short mile, he curated HWCH one year AFAIR.
