Yeah I would imagine so, it would suit me more anyways. Plus it looks like more fun in my opinion! I noticed the extra expense alright.. I was hoping to be able to do it with something like this....
    http://www.powerkiteshop.com/hq-symphony-beach-2-line-power-kite.htm

But as mentioned you need a C shape kite for surfing. I would give my left arm for this board though.....

Yep that kite wouldn't be any good for surfing - just for having fun on a beach. This would have very little power really....even the 2.1 meter. You would need serious enough wind to get any useful power.

Looks awesome but my god is it pricey! Is there an Irish website selling similar stuff at all? I reckon delivery prices wouldn't be much fun either.

Not aware of any website in Ireland but it's ages since I bought a kite online so you should take a look. (on google)

You mention the danger but don't they come with an emergency type cord, that would make it drop out of the sky? But obviously you would still need some sort of training for a more enjoyable safe experiance.

They have handles. If you let go of the handles the kite will instantly deflate and power will dissapear. You will have straps to keep the kite attached to your wrists so they kite doesn't blow a million miles down the road or out into the sea when you let go of the handles.

Haha that Ofna buggy looks badass! Holy cow.. do you rob banks for a living lol? The price of that hobby dude! I think I'll just stick to kite surfing and cliff jumping for now hehe!

No but I'm good at looking after my personal finances and don't blow my money on things like cars and car loans like most other people seem to. I'm an INTJ/INTP type personality on the Myer Briggs personality scale also so that might explain why I am into so much different kind of stuff to alot of people and also approach things in a certain way.

You seem to be into different kind of stuff yourself? There isn't that many of us around is there? Or maybe I'm just not in the right places - need to join these clubs.
    Flojo wrote: »
So you reckon I could just bring my kite and board to Salthill and enjoy hours of fun? I'd be delighted with that like.

Nope. You would need to get lessons and join a club - start off going out with experienced folk more than likely even after you've had your lessons.

Join this site and get some advice from people there I'd say. There will be some Galway people on there aswell. http://www.kitesurfing.ie/

Only moved down last friday, so trying to get a good feel for the place and what I can do here. Definitely want to broaden my extreme spots horizans anyways! Taking a bit of a career break at the moment aswell, just for the summer. Just want to enjoy life a little for a while. :)

    What about yourself?

Welcome. Good idea to enjoy life. Need to start learning how to do that myself a little better. One of the goals of my recent hobbies.

I'm male, 25 and working in Galway in IT.

Build a website about something useful.

Cheap as chips if you have a PC + internet already: host it in a blogging site, and our only cost is $US10 (+tax of about $2.50 sometimes) per year. Add a bit more if you need to make hard-copy marketing materials, but not all sites need these.

    Hi there!

Kitesurfing is so addictive it should be illegal :-), 25-30 knots today - was epic.

Generally you start on land using a buggy or landboard, once you've done that most move to water.

Galway is only really good for kitesurfing. You have to do a bit of driving for kite buggying or landboarding.

Head down to Silverstrand/Rusheen bay tomorrow, there will be a crowd of us out from 3pm onwards. We're a friendly crew so if interested, just ask questions.

I'd be extremely interested in KiteSurfing as well.... And i would pay for lessons too, if someone could give more information? From what i've seen there are quite a few people intersted maybe it would be in someones interest to charge €30 for a couple hours tutorial for a few weeks?

    Cheers

I think i've found the kit.. second hand.. for about 600 spuds.

    Adverts.ie is your friend.

I went out to silver strand today to watch the windsurfers, that looks awesome too! Still think i'd prefer the old kitesurfing

    Hey boneyarsebo...broken laptop!

Beginner's Tae Kwon Do classes, for both Adults and Teenagers, start tonight (Monday) in Renmore Community Centre from 7pm til 8pm. All welcome. No experience necessary. Great fun for all ages whether you be 13 or 63. Great instructor, and nice friendly atmosphere.

Just bring a pair of comfortable loose clothes and 7 yoyos for the class.

Come once, see if ya like it, if not... scuttle off into the night and no one is none the wiser.

I would recommend it to everyone even remotely interested... It's a great work out, and savage good fun. Ya won't regret it.

If you want more info you could check out http://www.galwaytkd.com/index.htm

Sup RHG! Will you be there? Would be quite awesome to know someone else there - won't feel as weird. Especially since it's in Renmore, so it's like a 2 min walk from me.

For sure m'dear! I have peoples coming next week who couldn't make it yesterday.
Sup RHG! Will you be there?

First off, you will always be boneyarsebogman to me. (Always forever and ever and ever...*tear*)

Also, since I got moved up to the Advanced class last week, I'm afraid I will not be there until after your class. Though I will be there warming up at the back of the hall for a whileen before you finish.

No weirdness there, it's awfully cool. Instructor is a dead on.

Please consider it (everyone). Take it from a former cynic... this shít rocks! :D
