Contention Ratio Question?

    Hi all,
    Just wanted to know about the contention ratio that affects broadband,
    If I have vodafone home broadband and my neighbour has eircom broadband, are we affecting each others broadband when we are both online?
    Or do you just affect the broadband of users from the same company?

    Correct me if I wrong here, but my understanding is that if you are on an unbundled exchange then your only sharing with customers from the same company, whereas if you are on an exchange that must use eircoms bitstream product then you are sharing with all the other ISPs customers.

    I'm fairly sure about this in the case of the bitstream exchanges and my reasoning for the unbundled exchange is because Magnet wouldn't be able to offer an uncontended line if they had no control over the way Eircom bundles them.
