Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Huge oppurtunity for one of these teams. Think it'll be a good game, 2-1 Uruguay

Would love Ghana to win this but I'd say it will be a comfortable Uraguayan victory

Uruguay have shown that they are not a one trick pony. Luis Suarez, ALvaro Peirera, Maxi Perriera, and Diego Lugano are fantastic. They dont need to rely on Forlan.

Ghana are reasonable and could cause them problems. But in a tight game I would call Uruguay.

Uruguay for me. Have not been impressed with Ghana and would have much preferred USA to be at this stage. Going to go with 2-1 to Uruguay but hope its a higher scoreline.

Really hope Uruguay do it. They're good to watch most of the time and always look like scoring.

Really looking forward to this one, but I don't know if it will match up to the action of this afternoon's game. My head says Uruguay to win. That said, I wouldn't bet against an upset after the way the competition's gone so far.

I fancy Uruguay to overcome Ghana. Boths sides have done pretty well defensively but I think Forlan and Suarez will give Uruguay the edge. I'll say 3-1 to the South Americans as I'm hoping Forlan gets on the scoresheet!

I'm rooting for Ghana but i think their temperament will let them down. Unfortunately far too often they make the wrong decision in front of goal, against a better side like Uruguay, unlike in the USA game, they'll be punished for this.

Put a bit on Ghana at 10/3 there. Think it will be a close game but those are generous odds imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

    Teams:

    Uruguay: 1-Fernando Muslera; 2-Diego Lugano, 6-Mauricio Victorino, 4-Jorge Fucile, 16-Maximiliano Pereira, 15-Diego Perez, 17-Egidio Arevalo, 7-Edinson Cavani, 20-Alvaro Fernandez, 9-Luis Suarez, 10-Diego Forlan.

    Ghana: 22-Richard Kingson; 4-John Pantsil, 5-John Mensah, 15-Isaac Vorsah, 2-Hans Sarpei; 6-Anthony Annan, 23-Kevin-Prince Boateng, 7-Samuel Inkoom, 11-Sulley Muntari; 21-Kwadwo Asamoah, 3-Asamoah Gyan

those odds for Ghana do look good alright.

anyway there should be renewed interest in the premiership for Gyan after this world cup. I hope he does well tonight.

For the romance of the Cup - Ghana but the strike pairing of Forlan and Suarez should be the difference.

Would like to see Ghana make the semis. Be great for Africa.

jesus, 13 replies for a World Cup quarter final thread right on kick off.

Sometimes i wonder do need separate forums for Man United/Liverpool/Arsenal rumours threads, they must make up 70% of the traffic here.

Uruguay's anthem intro is like something from Curb Your Enthusiasm. I love it.

Who was the Ghana player that wouldn't shake hands?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

    I'm cheering for Ghana.

Uruguay clear favourites but Ghana are a no pushovers. Also, Uruguay's over cautiousness might cost them.

What the hell is that on Victorinos face... is it a beard, a lowdown moustache?

Shaping up to be a great game now that Ghana have started to get a few chances.

Forlán dictating play as usual. Would like a hat-trick if at all possible from him tonight ha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,567 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Is anyone watching this? Very few posts compared to Brazil v Holland game, when everyone was supposed to be working.

Anyhow, better start by Uruguay but Ghana starting to get more into it now.

I really want this to be a good game.

Lugano gone off injured gives Ghana a great chance to win this match. Just keep it tight at the back and they'll get their chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,595 ✭✭✭baldbear

Ghana are coming more into this game but i think those great chances they had are going to proove costly. Uraguay look a bit ragged now. Half time might wake them up. Jaysus Fucile is out for the count ooouch...

I don't think so with Gyan up front, Not a good forward at all. That was a nasty fall.
