Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bad positioning from Muslera but no one expected him to shoot from there!

Need to see it again......think defence left the gap open and the keeper had no chance, I'm sure he wasn't expecting a shot from there.

the swerve on the ball was incredible. I hope Ghana can mantain their composure and keep playing as they were in the last fifteen minutes of the first half.

I can;t imagine they're too chuffed with him after turning his back on them.

I know, I know his prospects were better with France..... but if you're Ghanaian you wouldn't have much time for that!

If Uruguay go out there will only be one past winner left in the semi-finals.

If an African team wins the World Cup then you just know that the African Federation will demand a larger allocation of places for the next world cup! And theres only one continent those spots will be taken from, if recent trends are anything to go by. It will make it even harder for Ireland to qualify next time round!

    So VAMOS URUGUAY!!!!

That really was an incredible goal!

Nobody else on the pitch was expecting it. Looking at the replay everyone else on the pitch is just strolling

Ghana aren't going to win the World Cup let's be realistic. I just hope they don't bottle it and let a place in the semi-final slip away.
if an african team does win it in the future. we don't have a divine right to qualify for the world cup. if we're good enough we'll qualify!

I mean fair enough but really what you're saying is keep Africa down so that more mediocre European sides can play?

    Wikipedia is on the ball...

"Sulleyman Ali "Sulley" Muntari (born 27 August 1984 in Konongo, Ghana) is a Ghanaian footballer who currently plays for Serie A club Internazionale. He is a central midfielder, but can also play as left winger. He also plays for the Ghana national team, but his relationship with the Ghana Football Association has been rocky at times. And he has just scored a bloody screamer against uruguay."

Not really. Its more Keep Africa down so that no more appalling African teams get through. Ghana have been great, Ivory Coast unlucky, but the rest have been utterly appalling. Adding more of those teams wont make the world cup any better.

And how would Ireland improve the world cup?

If anything it will be the South Americans allocated more spots, all 5 reached knock out stages, with 4 in the quarters. Frankly I'd be more worried about Uraguay going through.

If Ireland aren't good enough to get into the top 13 teams in Europe then fair enough,, but reducing Europe's allocation to say 11 teams is obviously not going to be good for the competition. We have outperformed our allocation in every world cup so we should not be losing places. This world cup has been Europe's worst and yet we still could end up with 3 of the 4 semi final spots. African teams have been appalling every world cup (usually with 1 exception each time) so I fail to see why adding in more of those teams is a good idea.

    Why?
2 or 3 draws in the group stage, maybe qualify for the 2nd round and then get knocked out there?

Nah, id rather watch decent teams.

    Great goal.

Game on...real test of Ghana's character & skill now.
