Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just for pig iron, im curious to see what Km's others get for €20 or €40 :p

Iv a tiny 1.4 16V engine and get around 170Km for €20 with an average of 10 liters pre 100 Km. I use to get 220Km before the massive hike in petrol prices

1.25 ltr Ford engine gets me just over 200km for 20 euro.

    €20 approx 200km with 01' Mercedes c220 cdi automatic
approx 240km with 10' Opel Insignia 2l CTDI EcoFlex manual

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 1059007

Nice 200Km for a little 1.25....mate has a 1.1 clio and gets at least that but once he hits m50, chop it in half lol takes 4000 rpm to hit 120 in his car :pac:

I was expecting my 1.4 to do me well but i can see a big hole in my pocket soon enough haha

Put in €20 worth of fuel in my car today. Got 14.9l of petrol.
Drove about 50miles. Used up a little more than a 1/4 of what I put in.
But then again I was driving super economically today. Coasting around in 5th gear with my foot featherlight on the throttle not letting the revs go above 2k mark and all...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 553 ✭✭✭flower tattoo

i get 500 km for 40 litres costing about €46-€50 in a 1.6 petrol suzuki liana.
Thats loads of stupid short trips and mostly country roads.

    is that good or bad??:confused::confused::confused:

Its about 45mpg I think. Which is pretty good compared the the 30ish mpg I get with my normal (slightly hard driving). It takes considerably more effort to drive a car economically than it does to trash it around!!

my opinion loosers are the drivers who stay in the second or third lane constantly, when first lane is empty... this is just plain ignorant to think that some lane is cool, but that is other threads discussion
    obviously I didn't get you joke, sorry:rolleyes:

You are not long enought here ;) . Be here longer and you understand ;)

P.s. Op, we count 100km to xxl back in my old country. Newer knew people started here aswell, as mpg is still extremly popular even if all roads are marked in km for quite a bit.

Well thing is 100km to 10l is really alot for 1.4 . Even if thats city driving.

its quite good. 6.36 per 100km, specially for 2.0 turbo diesel. i presume thats for mixed driving

It sure is :D, it's one of the main reasons why I got the car, plus having recently rebuilt the engine, new exhaust and fuel system helps too.

As I said earlier, €20 on a run (motorway all the way) it will do 360km.

But the older Passats did 53mpg (5.3 l/100km) and I'm definitely getting 55 (5.1) from mixed. 00 Golf Estate 1.9 VE TDI.

Are the emissions laws choking the newer diesels on MPG? I think someone here made that point a few weeks back.

6.36 is fine I think... smaller engines can produce better, but at a prise of lifespan
my opel insignia 6.6l per 100km but I do not buy diesel myself, so don't even try to drive ECO, so I would be happy with that

Well 6.36 is grand if you are bombing it along all the time but I dont feel thats very good at all at all for normal driving, Im not even talking eco driving or hypermiling stuff.

I'm only telling you the computer reading on the dash for average fuel consumption over the first 14000km the I did in 2 months. the car is a lot bigger than opel astra, the boot is full to the rim with tools and parts, I'd say 18" alloys has some added too

I wasnt referring to the Opel, I didnt mention your 6.6 l/100km. That may very well be brilliant for that car but I dont know the car.
Im on about the figure of the Passat.

did about 140km on my last 20 euro.

    so thats.... about 25mpg...noice

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

can we start again and all stick to the same formula...preferably what the OP asked for...

€20 does 220km(140 miles?) in my 1.4 Escort (or down to the postbox in my Cortina)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,269 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

Have done two brim to brim tests on the Rover 600 since I got her putting in 52l each time @ roughly €70 and got approx 350 miles mixed driving from each fill... so that's about 565km's so about 160km's for €20 or roughly 30mpg.

Not too bad for a 12 year old, 1.8 :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,272 ✭✭✭✭Max Power1

result of my last brim to brim run in the rover 75 (mostly around town, with 1 motorway/dual carriageway run) were 300 miles for 46 litres, @€;61.

Im told it works out around 30 mpg

I've heard mixed reports about the M3's consumption, if you filled it, how much would it cost and how far would it get you?

If I put 20 in I'd probably het about 80 miles so around 130kms. If I fill it which is about €50 I get around 250 miles. That's a 1.8 Integra Type R

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭dirtydiesel

80 to 90 miles on 20e in my saab taladega 20i. prior to this car I always drove diesel cars, reckon I will be back driving a diesel again soon.

I can get about 15-20 miles out of €20, if im pushing the car.
