just copy the forum code from speedtest.net and bobs your uncle

Thanks - I know how to do that but this is a PDF attachment of a screenshot I'm trying to upload not a direct link from speedtest.net

Think I've done it now - must have been a boards problem :P

Almost - had to rename the php file that dowloaded to .pdf for it to open.

But I see what you mean a backwards download which can't happen.

off peak is nice - pity they cant stabilize it on peak. congestion is the bane of this technology :( ill take this tho :)

Contention mate....its unpredictable plus weather can effect it as well. Also if you are moving around the house - your specific location whether its 20 metres or 200 can effect performance.

How are you managing these speeds? Have you a special modem? The max I reach with Three is about 3.5Mb/s if I'm lucky.

Off peak speeds using the e1820 modem and a zoom 4501 router :D

Download Speed: 7173 kbps (896.6 KB/sec transfer rate Upload Speed: 2787 kbps (348.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

My service is unreliable during peak hours though....so much so that i cant garentee any proper viewing of matches on sky go so ive had to restart my sky sub to garentee my footy and rugby...thus cancelling one of my broadband accounts with three....tis an more expensive solution but am sick of matches buffering

Mobile broadband doesnt garentee any minimum quality in connection though

Does the zoom 4501 router help speed things up? Or do you just use it to transfer wirelessly around the house?

I have the E5830, is E1820 faster or the same?

im not sure about the e5830 honestly - i think it could be 21mbps HSPA+ capable but a good google search will help find that out if your dashboard doesnt show HSPA+

The zoom 4501 is a wifi router with wireless N - so i plug in the modem into it in ther best possible signal area of the house and share that connection via wifi. Only really reach the 7mb plus speeds after 12am until bout 12-5pm...it varies depending on contention and signal stability

Daytime speeds on HSPA+ modem is a Huawei E586 i noticed that HSPA+ brings pings down from around 70-90ms to 40ms-60ms which is great notice a huge improvement in pages loading on the internet

That's interesting because I would love to get those latencies. Play online all the time but the latency is near 100ms. Not sure what modem I have but will have to check.

Very true - jitter is a massive issue when it comes to wireless 3g technology no matter how good a signal you have or how little contention you have per cell

    Nice Result :)

Is it consistant? whats your signal like may i ask? are the pings stable?

The pings seem to vary a lot. I got a ping of 55ms earlier, another one now was 75ms. They never seem to be consistent.

I've done plenty of speed tests and most are over at least 4Mb/s with this modem. I get the odd one which is maybe 1Mb/s. But I'm happy with it. I live in an area where this is my only option for these speeds.

Aye it is consistant with everyone else experience - low speed or high speed - the latency varies by a good bit. The more feedback we get from more people here will show us the general trends of the technology

    1852529252.png

Ping spikes are killing me though

bit more stable using my old b260a router - still a couple of nasty ping spikes but no request timeouts or ping stalls....

I've got a line of sight to the Meteor mast thats 650m from my home. Have the dongle upstairs connected to a wireless usb router. Speeds are usually high at 8mb-12mb and pings usually 75 and the connection is very stable.
