Anyone know why Travers pulled out?

Had a niggle in his leg. Didn't want to chance it with the travelling. He is racing in Athlone.

He didn't pull out the AAI dropped him. It really came back to bite them when he ran sub 4 last week.

Different reason on the AAI website. Unless dropped him because of the niggle?

He had that niggle a few weeks ago, it was nothing too serious but they dropped him anyway. This all happened before he ran sub 4 last week. It was unfortunate for him really.

Irish TV? They're a channel on Sky mainly consisting of local news programmes and music shows, but they did show the European Team Championships last year, and the same highlights of last summer's athletics that Setanta had.

They don't do a huge amount of sport but I see they've given Jimmy Magee a talk show and there's talk of them going onto Saorview soon, which could be very interesting.

Found a press release online -

Next week’s Athlone IT Indoor International Grand Prix will be broadcast live on Irish TV, and streamed live online worldwide.

Indoor high jump world champion Mutaz Essa Barshim, former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell and former women’s 100m world champion Carmelita Jeter are all competing in Ireland for the first time, with a strong men’s mile also on the list featuring Eoin Everard, John Travers, Ciaran Ó Lionáird, John Coghlan, Conor Bradley, Danny Mooney and Joe Warne.

Coverage runs from 7pm-9:30pm on Irish TV’s various platforms in Ireland and the UK, Sky 191, eVision 191, Freesat 400 and live at irishtv.ie.

The channel previously broadcast live coverage of last year’s European Athletics Team Championships from Tallinn and aired highlights of the 2014 Morton Games and Belfast International meetings.

Highlights will also be broadcast on Setanta Ireland at the following times – Wed 25 Feb 5:30pm, Sat 28 Feb 10:30am, Wed 2 Mar 5:30pm – with further highlights coverage on Premier Sports in the UK, Fox Sports Africa and Zuku Sports in Africa.

Is it just me or are the crowds very subdued, doesn't seem to be much of an atmosphere.

They weren't too subdued for Mo Farah's 2 mile indoor WR.

Never though that he would ever get a WR. We will never hear the end of this.

The Brits will be still talking about it in 50 years! He may have beaten Bekeles world record but he's no Bekele. ;) Not even close.

Today has proven how Mo Farah can be beaten in a 5k at Worlds.

....and just to rub things in they put Jeremy Clarkson on instead. This is not a good week for televised athletics in Ireland
