Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They are 4/11 on Betfair to get to the final. That price is massive assume its a mistake?
Maybe, 4/6 to win in the 90. regards ouright it must be 8/15

Boulahrouz and De Zeeuw are the obvious replacements for the suspended Dutch players.
De Zeeuw might be going a bit more forward than De Jong will ever do and maybe Van Persie will finally get the support up front he so desperately is looking for.
I'd say van Persie needs van der Vaart to come in for Sneijder for that to happen.

Still I hope the Dutch win this; I don't want Uruguay to progress any further and the rivalry of a Holland-Germany final would be great.

could be an x-rated game, the dutch have been a wee bit tasty so far and uruguay being latins will not back off lightly

What makes it even more interesting is that the ref is the 32 year old lad from Uzbekistan who has been fantastic throughout the tournament. He has been relatively lenient so far, he likes to play on when the opportunity arises and he has been very good is waving away so called play acting. Wonder how Robben will get on with him. :D

They're 15/8 to win the final with Stan James, they vary from 8/13 to 4/6 to beat Uruguay in normal time :)

    Are the teams out yet?

It is baffling how Webb has not been given a game since the last 16 even though he and his team are yet to put a foot wrong - still not been dismissed by FIFA but awfully odd he got no quarter or semi but could realistically be given the final.

    Nothing on BBC yet anyway

Someone is gonna get the line tonight. Maybe van Bommel.

ah Holland are unbackable in this unless you're clever.

Uruguay must be worth a punt, even if they're Suarez-less.

Did a double on both semi finals being draws after 90 minutes. Given the cagey nature of semi finals I reckon its a decent shout.

Van der Vaart and Van Persie combine really well. But Sneijder out is not going to happen i fear :)

I do hope for a Hol -Ger final. Finally a chance to put 1974 right.

i'm happy to get into this argument if a 2010 Final between the two materialises.

but Holland screwed themselves over from what i've seen of that tournament, and final. ah complacency.

yes, they're possibly the best team to never win the World Cup along with Brazil '82 and Hungary '54 (i'm told!), but there's a reason the Germans are Germans, especially back in the day. none of that fancy 'total football' nonsense.

just stick the ball in the net. ;)

Thing was that half the Dutch wanted to sit back and let the Germans come after the 1-0 and the other half wanted to do them some real damage. 1 team, 2 thoughts is destined to go wrong and so it did .

Really should've checked the team news before betting.

That opening package by RTE was whacky to say the least.

most of the world too I'd imagine. Uruguay sure know how to make themselves unpopular.

Yeah, I'm sure people just envisage hearts and puppies when they see Van Bommel coming through the back of opposition players! :)

"Robben Good" is the main headline tonight!!!

    12/1 urugay win

Like everyone else I find it hard to see past the Dutch.

Uruguay's only hope is Forlan having a massive game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    wow, Didi picked Uruguay.

    now i'm stumped.

    :(

Van Bommel sure is a top footballer, but not a note in his head!

I wonder why Forlan appears to have been the only player to really get to grip with this ball?

With a fair bit of optimism I'll say 3-0 to Holland, who will hopefully hit top gear in this game.

Funniest thing was how he said. "The Dutch are undefeated so Uruguay are going to win!"

Someone in my building just had to start drilling 5 minutes before the football starts, didn't they?

    I've got money on 2-1 Holland AET @ 15/1.

    C'mon the Dutch.

Jim Beglin got a sick cert.....don't wish any ills on the guy but I'm kinda made up over that....

That was interesting about Uruguays best world cups always being in 20 year cycles. 1930 50 70 90 and 2010.

Compared to the other major co-commentators, I think Beglin is streets ahead of Houghton and Lawrensen, best of a bad bunch you could argue though!

Edgy enough start, Kuyt had a decent chance though

Must own shares in whatever company makes the Cup Champions balls.

The Dutch definitely look the more likely to score so far.
