I haven't been to it yet, but I'm considering booking 'The Rat Pack' for two this week and would appreciate some opinions on the theatre.

For the evening shows the tickets run from €40 for the upper circle, to 55 for the stalls, and €45 for the circle (lower)..

Is there much different between the different levels, ie viewing and sound quality?.

And the dreaded question - the bar, I'm assuming there's one or two in the arena (hopefully) and can you bring a drink through into the show?.

I seen this act 2 or 3 years back in the Tivoli and thought it was amazing, but let down by a theatre which should have been gutted years ago, but the photos of The Grand Canal Theatre looking pretty good.

Spectacular venue and well worth the visit, Rat Pack should be a great show in it!

It is located in a new and upcoming area with local bars of Vertigo Bar at the Maldron Hotel, Ely and some nice restaurants if you are having eats!

    Enjoy!

Thanks, I booked the tickets in the stalls (€55) so I'm looking forward to a great show.

Thanks for the suggestion on the bar at the hotel, I was about to ask in another forum as I've never socialised in that area.

    Regards.

Well here I am, slightly the worse for wear so excuse my rantings.

I'll get the only negative out of the way - the toilets, there are simply not enough and not well placed either. Depending on where your seated the loo's can be a trek to get to, which resulted in a lot of people (women!) using the handicapped toilets.. But thats probably a personal gripe, I'm on a crutch and still made the effort to use the toilets intended for us...

Right, off my high horse :P

First impressions, the bar & foyer area - its spacous, clean and well staffed. You can not bring drinks into the theatre, however you can pre-order your interval drinks. All tablets are numbered, you come out at the interval and your drinks are waiting for you at your numbered spot - BRILLIANT :D

The theatre is smashing, although I bought seats in the stalls I couldn't imagine that there's a bad seat in the place. So if your on a budget don't worry about buying cheaper tickets, you'll be fine.

Speaking of seats, I'm not the smallest guy in the world, and I found them very comfortable with plenty of leg room.

When I'm out of bed and on my 'proper' computer I'll download some photos I took.

I'm off back to sleep :D

77 would be too far to walk.

You could get either the no 1/2/3 bus from D'olier street and get off at the very end of pearse street/grand canal quay.

It's only a five min walk around the corner from there.

BTW - It's a fab theatre, we went to see Ray Wilks from the kinks a while back. It's a bit like the Olympia, but on a much grander scale.

Drinks are not cheap though - €6 a pint.

    Hi,

I just bought tickets for Colm Wilkinson as a Christmas present but now I am having second thoughts about the seats. The only seats I could find were in Row E in the upper circle. They are for my elderly and poorly sighted parents. Do you think this too far from the stage to appreciate the performance?

    Thanks alot.

I think they should be ok but can you let us know what they think as I've only sat in the stalls when I was there before and would be interested in knowing what the view is like upstairs. There is a lift that they will be able to use to get upstairs. Sometimes (not always) if there is room downstairs people will be moved from upstairs to seats downstairs.
