FAS and Rent Allowance

Hi

My sister wants to apply to do a FAS course in Dublin as it is the only place with the course she would like to do.

She has been unemployed for 12 months and has lived at home with her parents.
She has been claiming JSA for the past 4 months.
She is making no other claims.

If she were to do the course in Dublin would she be able to claim Rent Allowance?

She should talk to Fas about the accommodation allowance it provides in her circumstances

Training allowances

FÁS training courses are free and you may be paid a training allowance for the duration of your course. You can also claim an accommodation allowance if you need to live away from home for the duration of the course and a travel allowance if you live 3 miles or more from the course centre.
