O2 change of ownership

I just left my job and my company won't let me keep my number even though they have cancelled the number and closed the account. is there any way i can get this number back without them signing the change of ownership form?

The number will go back into the pot and recycled by a network. You could ask getting it that way, but they generally wont do it anymore.
