Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Onto the cobbles they go, and almost immediately Eurosport go to an ad break again. For f*ck sake.

Eurosport are pretty bad for the ads alright, I flick between Eurosport and ITV4 and even at that you often get them taking ads at the same time.

They could be taking them when the host broadcaster is.

Great stage yesterday up to the crash. Great ride by Chavanel after what happened earlier in the year!

I think Cancellara was right to allow the regroupement but was wrong to neutralise the sprint. It is a bike race still and if they protest more like yesterday then they will never race. I feel sorry for Hushovd mostly, considering he was up near the front of the peloton and would have taken a huge advantage over Farrar, Cavendish, Petacchi, Freire as they were all having trouble keeping up or after crashing.

Have to say I found what the AG2R rider did @ the end where he raced ahead of the peloton to get on the podium cunning yet genius. I know he didn't make many friends from it, but hey its a bike race and at the end of the day its second place in a stage in the Tour de France! Great for the portfolio :)

True, but just as I posted ITV4 took a break while Eurosport was still airing. But Eurosport took a break a couple of minutes later before ITV4 managed to get back on again.

Eurosport commentators are also aware of when the breaks are coming - probably unlikely if they're just following a local feed.

Of course they know when the breaks are coming, they're eurosport's breaks.

And yes they are definitely taking the host broadcaster's feed, that's the only one there is. Then they put in their own breaks, but probably in and around when the host broadcaster puts theirs in.

Lots of lads using the footpaths today, here come the cobbles.

This was one I had marked down to stay at home at watch but circumstances conspired against me. Hoping for a win for big Thor to help regain the point he lost for yesterday.

was Roche involved in that spil?.

Stage definitely feels like a classic. All the big guns fighting for elbow room at the front and the pace is incredible now.

    Schleks down.

Anyone make out where Roche is at all today? Haven't heard him mentioned, and haven't been able to pick him out. He tore his new tricolour shoes yesterday, which would have made him a little easier

Great to see a stage like this early in the race rather than the normal boring 7 stages of sprints till they reach the mountains. only bad point is the injuries that inevitably come with it

Agreed. This should be a more regular happening for 1 stage in the first week. It's really set the race alight.

He was in the leading 20 about 5/10 minutes ago. Leaders' numbers are easier for me to spot for some reason (He's 81 btw)

it seems I was a bit premature with Andy Schleck being down too

Think I just noticed Roche in the Contador group

Yip, just sitting behind Contador there.

    Yup, just behind him now.

*edit* That group is doing a good job of hanging close to Cancellara's group. Should be good result for Nico today

2 bloody punctures for the yellow jersey. This is a great stage.

    Disaster for Lance.

    Go on Roche !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,312 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Official timing had LA's group ahead of Contador before the flat. I can only imagine the look on LA's face as AC's group rolled past... ;)

EDIT; and now AC's face as LA tagged back on to that group

Not Contador's group - was another group ahead of LA but not with AC

No chance of green jersey for Cav now I reckon

I thought it was but I haven't seen Armstrong finish yet

Couldn't ask for much more than that for Roche's GC ambitions, he should be fairly happy to gain ground on AC and LA!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Poor Chavanelle, but if the Welsh guy takes the yellow it would be good.

edit, na, Thomas is in second, 23 secs behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,012 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Pretty sure LA was with Petacchi and Cav when they came in
