"UCD School of Economics is the largest and most prestigious School of economics in Ireland with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research."- http://www.ucd.ie/economics/

UCD claim that their School of economics is "Ireland’s leading centre for teaching and research in economics". Just wondering, how true is this?

    Cheers!;)

Depends on how you define a prestigious school. UCD ranks well by research output

Slide three here says "ranked 21st in Europe among universities for research in economics (Source: REPEC)". I haven't been able to find that particular ranking on the RePEc site. The closest one I've found is this, with UCD at about 44th in Europe but still the best in Ireland.

Maynooth is well represented in there. Does it have a good reputation domestically? I would never have rated it before, maybe I'm very wrong.

I think they base that on a (UCD School of Economics + UCD Geary Institute) basis.

It's generally considered to be the third best department in Ireland; i.e. a little bit above NUIG, UCC, UL. I don't think DCU has an economics department.
